Job Overview::
The Dental Operations Director will oversee, direct, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of multiple dental clinics located throughout Southeast Alaska. They will be responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and financial sustainability of departmental operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. They will work for and in collaboration with the Director of Dental Services to oversee all aspects of providing Dental services to SEARHC patients throughout the communities.
The Operations Director will manage collaboratively with the Director of Dental Services to support high quality, customer-centered dental care and services effectively and efficiently across the region. Relying on data-driven outcomes, They will identify trends and take action to improve measurable patient health outcome metrics, customer service scores, revenue performance, and no-show rates. He / She will lead the Dental Operations team on improvement efforts to front-end office processes, appointment scheduling, registration, health information management, provider schedule optimization, customer service, and quality monitoring.

Sign-on and Relocation Bonus:
$62.81-$87.64/hr.
Responsibilities::
  • In collaboration with the Director of Dental Services, provides leadership and oversight to the Dental Division. Executes the mission, vision, and strategy for the Dental Division, ensuring consistency and alignment with the overall SEARHC mission, vision, values, and strategic operating plan.
  • Supervises and directs the Dental Operations team, inclusive of, but not limited to, Operations Mangers, Compliance Manager, Program Manager, and Patient Referral Coordinators.
  • Responsible for financial oversight that includes the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Dental Division budget. Analyzes the financial impact of changes in clinical activities and forecasts actual results versus the approved budget. Oversees the capital expense request process. Provides budget monitoring to manage and control expenditures and provides monthly reports and analysis to the clinic leaders. Mentors and directs staff to maximize resources efficiently. Maximizes cost efficiencies in the development of supply, equipment, and inventory systems, managing operations and ensuring compliance with established budget targets for respective cost centers.
  • Monitors patient satisfaction and responds quickly to all appropriate patient complaints or concerns. Active planning and implementation of processes to improve customer satisfaction
  • Develops systems, measures, and goals, and maintains ongoing tracking of system performance, adjusting resource allocation and administrative policies as needed to maximize quality and productivity.
  • Develops administrative policies and procedures that provide quality improvement for staff and patient services. Fosters teamwork within the Dental Division. Creates and maintains a positive work environment for all departments insuring high employee morale and a professional, effective, and efficient work atmosphere. Uses regular staff surveys and feedback from staff to identify areas where improvement is needed.
  • Works actively to continuously improve care and to meet the needs of the community as much as possible. Collaborate with community, state-wide and national programs, agencies, and initiatives to meet the objectives of SEARHC.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and accrediting bodies.
  • Coordinates with the other departments and divisions of SEARHC, including grant programs, as they relate to the Dental Division operations.
  • Participates as an active member of committees, as requested by the Dental Division Director. Plans for and implements both short-term and long-term objectives consistent with the SEARHC Strategic Plan. Identifies practice development opportunities. Provides innovative leadership for the Dental Division.
Qualifications::
Baseline Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree - emphasis in healthcare or administrative field highly preferred.
  • MBA / MPA highly preferred. Higher emphasis if Bachelor’s Degree is not in desired field
  • 7 years management experience in complex dental or healthcare organizations, which must include experience with day-to-day operations management, program development and expansion of services.
  • Certification through AADOM, MGMA, ACHE or similar organization preferred. Substantial progress toward certification will be required after two years in the position.
