Position: Direct Support Professional II (Direct Care) [0443] E

Program: Amarillo, Texas – IDD Respite

Salary: $15.66/hr.

Shift Available: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 6:00am - 2:00pm rotating days off

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Direct Support Professional II (DSP II) performs direct care services for consumers served by TPC in group home setting
  • They work under supervision of the Administrative Tech II/Designee,
  • Responsible for providing daily supervision and assistance to consumers served (i.e. toileting, bathing, feeding, dressing.)
  • Preparation of meals, housekeeping duties, record keeping and documentation, transporting individuals and overall safety of individuals served during their Respite stay.

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year experience working with IDD individuals
  • Some experience in therapeutic activities preferred
  • Must have a minimum of eighth grade reading, comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
  • Or one semester (12 semester hours) of accredited college work
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy

Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • Some experience working with individuals with IDD diagnoses
  • At least one (1) year of experience providing behavioral intervention services in a therapeutic environment to individuals who display aggressive, disruptive, non-compliant, and/or self-abusive behavior.
