Position Description
Job Specific Responsibilities/duties include:
- Serve as the subject matter expert of the financial portfolio for Digital Transformation
- In partnership with the Director prepare the annual budget and quarterly forecast submission process, including the production and distribution of materials to the DTx leadership team and HBS central financial administration.
- Oversee the production of monthly financial reporting and explore options for report development
- Partner with budget owners and funding partners to monitor budget-to-actuals and update changes to forecast projections.
- Manage transactions for financial systems – Purchase Orders, Payment Requests, Order Forms, invoice approvals, issue reconciliations as needed
- Manage the financial accounting closings for including the review and submission of month-end, quarterly and fiscal year-end accounting deliverables.
- Oversee appropriate Harvard Purchasing Card use and Reimbursements, and managing submissions and approvals through Harvard Concur system
- Ensure compliance with university and school financial policies and procedures.
- May serve as a DTx Business Operations representative on school/University committees/projects as appropriate.
- May assist with hiring and on-boarding tasks for DTx – resume and candidate screenings, interview coordination, and onboarding new hires, both as FTE and Contract roles
- Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated work experience in a technology services organization, preferably within an academic institution similar in size and scope of challenges such as HBS.
- Advanced knowledge of budget management, financial analysis and financial modeling; working knowledge of accounting principles
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of an organization.
- Demonstrated customer service orientation, outstanding organizational and follow-up skills required.
- Ability to handle confidential materials and exercise diplomacy and discretion essential.
- Knowledge of advanced financial operations principles
- Knowledge and use of collaboration tools, Office365 and SharePoint technologies, and Oracle Financial Systems.
- Experience reviewing and managing contracts, partnering with department leaders and Harvard Strategic Procurement
