Job description
Provide services as a Digital Communications Specialist in support of the overall functions of the Office of the Director (OD) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). A Scientific Program Analyst on the Strategic Planning, Evaluation, and Communications Team splits time between communications and evaluation. The candidate creates strategies and materials to communicate with general and scientific audiences about the activities of NIH Common Fund programs. This includes web, social media, posters, flyers, slides, talking points, and other content. They conduct analyses to inform program planning and management. This may include portfolio, bibliometric, landscape scan, literature, and other analyses. Specific skills to conduct these analyses may be learned, but existing analytical skills are required. The candidate must have at least a bachelor’s degree in a field affiliated with biomedical science.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement recruitment plans according to agreed schedule, such as placing print ads, arranging television or radio spots, preparing mailings, etc. and provide detailed reports on recruiting, outreach and screening results. 1
- Coordinate and maintain focus groups regarding social impact and community understanding regarding vaccine clinical trials. 2
- Serve as subject matter expert and provide technical assistance to other NIH departments around recruitment, health education, advertisement, outreach and retention. 3
- Work with staff to coordinate content management of recruitment materials, advertisements and social marketing messages.
- Initiate and maintain databases of pending and approved materials, core community contacts, recruitment and participation histories, and program performance measures.

- Familiarity with Microsoft office products, particularly Word and Excel - Daily
- Excellent written and oral communication skills - Daily
- Strong quantitative analysis skills - Daily
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical field.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
