Our precast company is a leading producer of architectural and structural wall panels, and the nation's largest producer of precast concrete parking structures. We've provided structure and enclosure systems, components, and accessories for virtually every kind of project including corporate, cultural, government, educational, institutional, multi-unit residential buildings, sports stadiums and arenas, retail, industrial, correctional facilities, and warehouse structures. We are currently searching for a Design Engineer.
The Design Engineer will be responsible for furnishing engineering design and technical assistance to various internal and external customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
- At least two years experience in the precast concrete industry
- Extensive knowledge of structural and architectural design, specifications and codes required by both production and customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional Engineering licenses preferred but not required
Essential Job Functions:
Design assigned projects. Handle projects from start to finish including stability analysis.
Maintain schedules set up for engineering of projects. Coordinate this schedule with that of draftspersons to avoid delays. Ensure daily contact with project draftspersons.
Be familiar with contract drawings and specifications of assigned projects, taking particular note of exceptions to drawings and specifications in our contract.
Confirm in writing with contractors, architects or engineers, any changes mutually agreed to.
Prepare load tables, standard details and specifications as required.
Check erection and shop drawings, and review calculations done by HCG and/or outside services, to ascertain if reinforcement, concrete strengths and lifting devices are shown per design and specifications prior to releasing for production.
Provide estimating department with the preliminary design and feasibility information for estimating purposes. Have knowledge of cost effectiveness as it relates to design, production and erection.
Assist in estimating, sales, production, erection or quality control in preliminary planning or problem solving.
Assist in training of draftspersons. Maintain awareness of research, design aids and computer applications for use. Continue professional development and familiarization with current precast practices and design.
Make field inspection trips to jobsites to study erection problems and tolerances, and to obtain knowledge for future reference. Resolve problems at jobsites.
Prepare for professional engineer registration.
