With our skilled in-house carpentry, fabrication and floral teams, R. Jack Balthazar is able to envision, design, produce, and install all matter of inspired decor and execute complete space transformations for 200+ events annually across the US, and internationally.
The “Design & Production Manager” Role @ R. Jack Balthazar
The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and will balance multiple projects and aggressive deadlines. He / she should have experience in an office setting as well as strong on-site experience, and a passion for the creative process and the drive to learn and work within a team that identifies, creates and produces a spectrum of experiential work. The role requires maintaining positive relationships with internal and external partners, as well as ensuring that work delivers against our standards. In addition, this candidate will help mentor and direct staff, and effectively manage client requests + relationships. A knowledge and interest in all aspects and categories of event design/production is required, as well as a desire for professional growth and development. In addition, this candidate should be prepared to contribute in other departments, outside their daily responsibilities, at any given time.
Responsibilities
- Research design concepts and visions with a resourceful and creative approach
- Participate in client and vendor meetings, record accurate notes, photos, and measurements which demonstrate spatial acuity, and deliver a clear and concise recap to the team
- Exhibit an awareness of event details (as they relate to design) - from project inception, through the design process, production, installation and wrap-up
- Manage multiple event projects simultaneously, keeping current with details and communicate to all relevant affiliates
- Identify, research, and source décor elements efficiently, proficiently and practically
- Keep updated records of pending orders, incoming orders, backorders, and purchase orders
- Maintain thorough knowledge of warehouse functions, fabrication processes, and inventory
- Liaise with shipping/receiving to ensure receivables are properly checked in, quality-checked, inventoried, and routed
- Manage the event-related coordination of the client, venue, and vendor partnerships, as well as internal production staff
- Create and implement work-back schedules, production schedules, load lists, event timelines, travel itineraries, etc; both independently and collaboratively
- Assist in the creation and updating of mood boards, design decks, client deliverables, floor plans, etc
- Liaise with design and fabrication teams (floral, décor, carpentry, furniture, and sub vendor partners) to assist in the generation of design concepts
- Manage the on-site set-up and break-down of events
- Collect final invoices from vendor partners and budget reconciliation following each event

Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suites, Microsoft Office, and Google Docs Editors Suite
- 3-5 years’ experience in the event industry
- Experience working with florals, fabrication, construction, lighting, textiles, furnishings, décor, props is preferred
- Availability on nights / weekends / holidays
- Eligibility to work in the U.S
- Ability to travel
- Valid CADL + clean DMV record
- Must pass background / drug test
- Must be fully vaccinated with Booster
