The expected salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $125,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).

Responsibilities:
Kearney & Company is seeking a Consultant to join our team! Specifically, we are looking for a Data Management Consultant with demonstrated critical thinking skills, knowledge and experience of federal financial data management, understanding of the federal accounting transaction lifecycle, financial reconciliation approaches/techniques, federal transactional data and ability to support accounting record maintenance and cleanup in preparation for system migration. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze large, unstructured, and complex finance, procurement, and asset management data sets identifying data anomalies, issues, and approaches to resolve discrepancies
  • Complete data cleanup activities related to master and transactional financial, procurement and asset data including reconciliations and data analytics
  • Identify potential control issues within financial data and define approaches to correct errors through scripts, business process reengineering, or other resolution activity
  • Review processes, identify deficiencies, and design work tools to bridge control gaps through data analytics
  • Participate in cross functional working group sessions by planning, facilitating, and creating materials to timely accomplish activities
  • Facilitate User Acceptance Testing for data analytic tools
  • Support or lead the development of training materials, desktop guides, and quick reference guides to aid in data analytics tools
  • Support management and mentorship of junior staff as necessary
  • Manage tight deadlines with evolving requirements, prioritizing based on client risks
  • Adhere to project schedules, action logs, and dashboard reports, maintaining a list of ongoing and future activities
  • Provide recommendations for data cleanup improving quality of financial reporting
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree in Accounting Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management/Business Information Systems
  • Minimum 4 years of financial management internships or work experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to apply federal financial accounting policy and regulations
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced MS Excel, MS Access, and/or data analytic software skills
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data sets, identify data anomalies, issues, and define approaches to resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to translate business requirements to technical solutions while identifying gaps
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with evolving requirements and deadlines
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task across both business and technical deliverables
  • Ability to obtain and maintain agency suitability (requires U.S. citizenship)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the USSGL, federal accounting scenarios and posting logic
  • Experience with federal financial reporting
  • Experience in a federal consulting environment
  • Experience with data analytics software
  • Experience with Federal financial accounting policy and guidance
  • Experience with a core financial system within a federal agency
