Position Overview
Performs daily custodial maintenance duties including but not limited to: emptying trash receptacles, dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and cleaning and restocking restrooms. Duties may also include setting up rooms for meetings and events in city facilities and assisting with department activities as requested. Performs routine cleaning of offices and public areas in City buildings and facilities such as: Borger City Hall, the Borger Municipal Building, the Borger Police Department and others as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with custodial maintenance of public facilities. Experience with dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning windows, restrooms and sweeping. Cleans restrooms and restocks paper and soap supplies. Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal. Washes windows inside and outside. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; and maintains inventory of supplies. Assists with setting up meeting and work spaces in public buildings including, but not limited to moving tables, chairs, trash cans and audio/visual equipment. Drives to and from sites in order to complete work assignments. Communicates with co-workers in order to coordinate activities. Assists with City Special Events and holiday activities; trash collection, keeping event areas clean and other duties as may be assigned. Completes all cleaning tasks as assigned or as indicated on provided checklists. Performs all other duties as assigned. Performance Measurement
Employees will be provided with a detailed work checklist for each building(s) assigned. Employee will be required to complete daily, weekly and monthly tasks to a satisfactory level as trained or explained within an established time frame. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Basic Knowedge -
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with other City employees and officials, and with the general public.
Ability to operate small and heavy cleaning equipment such as vacuums, scrubbing machines and carpet extractors/shampooers.
Ability to safely use cleaning supplies and equipment.
Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
Ability to read City policies and procedures, written instructions, general correspondence and warning labels.Ability to perform basic math skills.
Ability to perform job tasks safely and efficiently; follow verbal and/or written instructions regarding safety. Ability to maintain a safe working environment.
Minimum Requirements - Must be able to pass a Police/CJIS Background check to have access to secure and sensitive facilities.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) to two (2) years of applicable custodial experience preferred, but not required. Physical Requirements/Environment
Physical requirements include lifting up to forty (40) pounds occasionally. Subject to standing and walking frequently; vision constantly; sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, kneeling, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, hearing, talking and foot controls. Working conditions involve exposure to variable and/or extreme weather conditions; machinery with moving parts, hazardous chemicals/materials, and infectious diseases is involved.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
