PROGRAM: Huckleberry Advocacy & Response Team (HART)
STATUS/SCHEDULE: Non-Exempt/Union/FT (40 hrs/wk) and on-call duties as scheduled (with additional pay).

POSITION SUMMARY:
Huckleberry Advocacy and Response Team (HART) is expanding! HART is seeking seasoned advocates/case managers to add to the team.
The Intervention Specialist is a member of the Huckleberry Advocacy and Response Team (HART), which acknowledges the strengths and struggles of youth who have experienced sexual exploitation. HART creates a safe space where youth are provided meaningful options with compassion and integrity in the hope they can heal and lead the lives they desire. HART is committed to a youth empowerment perspective and prioritizes youth voice.
The Intervention Specialist will provide support to four components of the program:
A coordinated 24-hour response to hotline referrals involving commercially sexually exploited youth (CSEC) up to age 21.
Intensive, in-depth case management services specific to youth who are experiencing commercial sexual exploitation, who are in the sex trades, or who are at vulnerable to exploitation.
Psychoeducation sessions about trafficking, exploitation, safety, consent, and personal boundaries.
Weekly groups at the Juvenile Justice Center for youth on the girls’ unit (the position to be filled will be the lead facilitator for the girls group)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide case management both in the community and on site at the office to youth ages 11-24, and their families, who are at risk of or are experiencing commercial sexual exploitation.
Maintain ongoing caseload and consistently document services.
Balance multiple tasks in response to ongoing and emergent youth needs, crisis response, and documentation.
Provide 24-hour crisis response when scheduled on-call (typically one week a month), which includes both crisis intervention and follow up.
Network with other community-based providers to establish relationships and resources, including providing consultation to other community providers.
Co-facilitate groups for young women at the Juvenile Justice Center and art groups at the office.
Participate in staff development activities including: individual supervision, group supervision, staff meetings, clinical trainings and interdisciplinary meetings.
Provide support and integration with HYHC programs and services to provide a seamless experience for youth.
Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates out of the agency’s office on Kansas Street. This role routinely includes driving and transporting youth to various appointments. This role meets clients in a variety of settings, including schools, medical providers’ offices, juvenile hall, youths’ residences (group home, foster home, parent’s house), and community-based organizations. The position also includes the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Huckleberry Youth Health Center is located in San Francisco and is accessible by public transportation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This role must be able to sit comfortably in a car when driving for up to an hour at a time. This role requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, sit or stand as necessary and climb stairs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1.Two years’ experience working with marginalized youth and families in a community based setting
2. Proven ability to balance crisis and an empowerment approach when working with youth
3. Experience working with public systems, particularly the foster care system.
4. Experience utilizing and commitment to the harm reduction model.
5. Experience advocating in a collaborative process and negotiating various systems
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
1. One year of experience working with youth experiencing commercial sexual exploitation lts and/or youth and young adults in the sex trades preferred.
2. Familiarity with the San Francisco Child Welfare system
3. Ability to speak/read/write Spanish/English strongly preferred
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. TB clearance
2. Valid CA driver’s license & clear DMV record
3. 2 years driving experience
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
1. Must pass DOJ/FBI background check
