The Creative Services Coordinator will play an essential role in coordinating projects for Marathon Petroleum’s in-house Creative Services team. This position provides wide-ranging support to ensure the effective in-take, assignment, completion and archiving of all projects and engages directly with internal clients and collaborators in this process. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and detail-oriented with a strong passion for organization, problem solving and customer service. The Creative Services team is part of MPC’s Communications organization.
This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency and skill level. Actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Corresponds with internal clients at all organizational levels to discuss and define objectives, project requests and delivery timelines for the creation and development of a wide variety of creative projects
- Communicates full range of Creative Services capabilities and provides initial counsel to clients on procedures, policies and approval process to accomplish project requirements
- Develops expertise on proper use of company logos/trademarks and company’s brand standards and visual guidelines
- Maintains detailed and timely records of in-process creative jobs and projects and team member assignments; coordinates the assignment of job numbers; communicates project status to interested parties on a regular basis; prepares periodic reports summarizing activities and productivity
- Organizes and maintains the Project Library and other filing systems through classifying and cataloging comprehensive project files with cross-references to related projects as needed; Retrieves design, video and photo project files and information as requested
- Assists with inspecting jobs in progress and finished products to ensure quality standards and takes necessary action to correct deficiencies
- Assists with maintaining self-service ordering system for certain company forms
- Coordinates photo/video release documents in collaboration with Law department to ensure proper documentation is maintained and to ensure compliance with release procedures
- Communicates with internal print shop and/or external vendors to provide art files for production; develops basic understanding of different production techniques and associated requirements
- Coordinates the purchase and inventory of all supplies and materials necessary for Creative Services to operate in an efficient manner; interacts with outside vendors to obtain cost estimates as needed; monitors actual costs versus estimates
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital design, commercial art, visual communications, business administration or related field strongly preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience working in a professional business setting required; experience working for a large, geographically dispersed company preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an administrative support or business coordination role required
- Proficiency in current Microsoft Office Suite required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency in current Microsoft collaboration applications preferred (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint)
- Knowledge of graphic design, photography, videography, branding and/or various types of print and digital production techniques preferred

- Comfortable working with ambiguity and limited information and engaging clients to reach clarity
- Ability to manage multiple projects and organization needs simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced, high-output environment

- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build good working relationships with internal clients and vendors
- High curiosity; eager to learn and understand a wide range of energy industry, business and creative subject matter
