Job description
Crate Building and Shipping: Do you excel in the design and crafting of durable shipping crates/skids for large heavy custom-made machinery for transport via LTL, FTL, and flatbed trailers? Are you able to rig and use 10 ton overhead cranes? Do you have carpentry and steel welding skills? For this job, custom one-off crate design, fabrication and packing capability is required. Machining, job shop machine fabricating and building experience is a definite plus.
Receiving: Are you are an expert at safely handling and receiving of raw materials (steel plates, structural steel, rounds) and commercial items (pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, tooling, machine shop supplies, heavy machinery, etc.)?

About the job:
1. This is not an ordinary job shop manufacturing job - it is an opportunity to apply your skills in a trade that is at the root of most manufacturing operations - the logistics of procurement, receiving, packaging and shipping of items from the machining and fabrication of machines, tools and parts that are used in diverse industrial, defense and mass-production manufacturing processes. You will report to the Machine Shop Foreman. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and additional duties may be assigned. We are looking for an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding ability and solid upward potential.
2. Full-time: Work begins on Mondays and normally consists of four 10-hour consecutive weekdays. Overtime may be scheduled on Fridays when needed to meet deadlines. No travel.
3. Pay: $15.00 to $20.00/hour. Potentially more. Depends on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated competence.
4. Citizenship: Must be United States citizen and fully comply with Federal requirements of contractors, sub-contractors and associated vendors.
5. Benefits: Include paid health insurance, paid life insurance, paid vacations and holidays, 401(k). HSA, ST and LT disability insurance and dental/vision insurance is available.
6. Experience: Military veteran with related work experience is a plus.
7. Education: High School or GED. Some related technical school or college education (mechanical engineering realm) is a plus.
8. Work Location: Close to Lewistown Exit I-95, on the northern perimeter of metro-Richmond, Virginia (U.S.A.), and just south of the nearby college town, Ashland, VA.
