Luzerne County has an immediate need for an Adolescent Unit County Casework Supervisor in its Children, Youth, and Families agency. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Supervisor of the Adolescent Unit has the responsibility for the supervision of case management and support staff that provides services to adolescents and their families.

  • The Adolescent Unit Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and evaluation of five (5) caseworkers, which include two (2) Shared Case Responsibility Caseworkers, three (3) on-going GPS Adolescent Unit Caseworkers and the Adolescent Unit Social Service Aide.
  • The Adolescent Unit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and supervising the Shared Case Responsibility (SCR) relationship with the Juvenile Probation Office.
  • Adolescent Unit Supervisor will establish and maintain regular communications with the JPO staff where SCR exists.
  • The Adolescent Unit Supervisor should also act as a consultant when the Juvenile Probation Office Supervisor requests assistance in identifying child abuse and neglect concerns on non-SCR cases.
  • The Adolescent Unit Supervisor will supervise the agency’s representative to the juvenile wellness team and attend Juvenile Wellness Court hearings as scheduled by the court.
  • The Adolescent Unit Supervisor will work to ensure safety, permanency, and well-being for children referred to the agency and will establish cooperative relationships with those providers that work with adolescents in their homes and placement settings.
  • The Adolescent Unit Supervisor will work closely with the agency Independent Living Coordinator to ensure any child serviced by the Adolescent Unit, who has been in placement since turning age 14, has access to Independent Living Services and will support the children in that program.
  • The employee will attend twenty (20) hours of training annually to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Prepares narrative and statistical reports, case summaries, letters, and other documents.
  • Other required and related duties as are warranted.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Telework hours vary upon daily tasks and agency needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
