The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) is seeking a Corrections Education Program Principal for the corrections education campus located on the grounds of the North Central Secure Treatment Unit (NCSTU) in Danville, PA. NCSTU is a residential at-risk youth treatment facility. Position will supervise corrections education teachers, guidance counselors, social workers and support staff assigned to the education program at NCSTU.
Position is responsible for coordinating, facilitating and supervising the instructional programs for all students enrolled at CSIU schools at NCSTU, in conjunction with the needs of the Department of Human Services and school district staff. In addition, will be responsible for the overall coordination of budget, curriculum, data analysis/reporting, guidance services, policies/procedures and technology services for the CSIU schools at NCSTU.
Salary: $85,000 – 100,000 dependent on education and experience level. This is an Act 93 middle management position following a 260-day, 12-month work schedule. Education and experience required:
- A Master’s degree in education or closely related field required.
- A valid Pennsylvania 1105-Secondary Principal 7-12 or 1115-Principal PK-12 certificate (Administrative I or II) issued in accordance with PDE CSPG 95-Principal is preferred. Will consider the Principal (72) Alternative Route to obtain an Administrative Provisional I certificate in the area of 1105-Secondary Principal or 1115-Principal PK-12. A candidate who holds a master’s degree and willingness to obtain a Type 01 emergency permit with educational obligation in the area of 1105-Secondary Principal or 1115-Principal PK-12 may also be considered.
- Experience working with at-risk youth and knowledge of Special Education processes are also required.
- The person selected must be able to work as a member of an instructional team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work productively with the Department of Human Services and school district staff are essential.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data entry, email and experience managing file sharing with Google Drive.
- Adept at using virtual meeting platforms such as Skype, Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize the task based on project deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate in both an oral and written format is crucial with the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers, community agency personnel, and students/trainees.
- Requires the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding education programs, students and parents at all times adhering to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements to protect staff and student data.
