About the Role
The Controls Manager helps to manage safe and efficient availability of rides/units/facilities. The Controls Manager will support the Controls Team in their daily operations of, all rides and attractions, dealing with breakdowns of show control equipment, routine maintenance of equipment, show lighting, video, and audio packages, while helping to manage safe and efficient availability of rides/units/facilities.
Role Description
Controls Manager responsibilities will be, but not limited to, the following:
- Lead and supervise 2 Assistant Managers and approximately 8 Control Technicians to maintain the operational integrity for 17 rides and attractions. This position is responsible to ensure the highest level of workplace and guest safety.
- Ensure that all rides and facilities are ready for safe operation prior to opening to team members or guests using checklists, procedures, and best practices.
- Oversee all planning and scheduling activities for the successful completion of projects.
- Understand Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) ride requirement, as well as regulatory requirements, are fully compliant for LEGOLAND NY attractions.
- Lead a team with consistent coaching and educating all technicians to grow and enhance their skills.
- Assist and be hands-on when necessary, acting as a guide for repairs and supporting emergency situations.
- Provide a positive work environment through leadership and communication, keeping technicians motivated to perform their best.
- Assign tasks, utilizing the work order system, as needed to facilitate safe and timely operation of all areas.
- Responsible for reactive and proactive maintenance of all ride and attraction control, electrical equipment, and show themed equipment.
- Responsible for daily inspection of all ride and attraction control, electrical equipment, and show themed electrical equipment.
- Tracking and assigning of all work orders throughout EAM – Infor, park wide asset management system.
- Assign, track and receive all toolkits that are issued out to employees.
- Tracking and maintaining all training and certifications for control department employees.
- Daily contact to employees across site regarding tasks, problem solving and management.
- Working closely with the Rides Maintenance team to ensure daily inspections are being completed.
- Ability to lend mutual aid to Maintenance department during reactive and preventive maintenance to ensure both mechanical and controls are thoroughly checked and complete.
- Other tasks and duties assigned as needed.
About You
- Previous Supervisory Experience a must.
- Superior analytical skills when looking at logic-based programming.
- Attention to detail in all aspects of one’s job, foremost when dealing with life safety electrical equipment in a mechanical setting.
- Experience with logic-based controllers from the following manufactures: examples are Allen Bradely, Siemens, or Bechoff.
- Experience with relay logic wiring and reading of schematics.
- Knowledge of Q-SYS Platform or similar network-based audio systems.
- Knowledge of Medialon, Alcorn McBride, Pharos, Dante or similar network-based show control systems.
- Knowledge Media Servers.
- Use of VLAN and WLAN protocols for audio and lighting networks.
- Knowledge of Art-Net, DMX512, and sACN lighting protocols.
- Ability to troubleshoot standard A/V equipment, projectors, speakers, video monitors and associated cabling.
- Experience with CCTV camera monitoring systems both analogue and network based PoE.
- Experience with Low Voltage Electrical wiring and troubleshooting.
- Experience with moving lights and controls; Vari - Lite, Clay Paky, Martin, Elation, and Chauvet.
- Experience with electrical meters; including but not limited to multi-meters, clamp, insulation, and earth ground tester.
- Strong people management skills to develop an effective team environment.
- Experience with electrical hand tools, soldering, and crimping of various styles.
- Knowledge of lockout tag out procedure and its importance.
- Friendly, outgoing personality.
- Well-groomed appearance.
- Ability to make a child’s day memorable.
- Work as part of a team.
- Dependable and Responsible (after all our guests depend on you!)
- Ability to work outdoors in any weather condition.
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time, and long distances.
- Flexible Availability around park hours (peak and nonpeak times).
- Ability to work nights/weekends/holidays through agreed upon employment.
