Job Summary:
The Controller will work closely with the GM and Operating teams as well as plan and direct the accounting operations of this Landscaping/Sweeping company.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees a staff of 3 in the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, and contract development/management.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Prepare account reviews and reconciliations (Balance Sheet and P&L) as well as time tracking for labor and Job costing for longer term construction and installation jobs
- Prepare, analyze, and comment on the monthly financial reports; ensuring that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Evaluate and recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s financial performance.
- Works with the GM and team to prepare and produces the annual budget/forecast.
- Tracks and reports monthly actuals vs budget performance and significant budget differences to management.
- Provides guidance on operational efficiencies.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in accounting software – SAGE would be a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Knowledge of ASPIRE operating system preferred and would be a plus
- Bi-lingual – English/Spanish preferred and would be a plus
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Ten years or more of related experience required.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Able to travel as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
