The Forward is looking for new columnists to regularly contribute to our Opinion report, where we bring together diverse voices from every corner of the Jewish world to engage in productive, civil conversation.

The ideal Forward contributing columnists are driven by ideas, not orthodoxies or ideologies, and are passionate about engaging with others. Their work is relevant to the American Jewish present while also bringing fresh ideas and perspectives rooted in their individual expertise.

As a digital outlet, we welcome Opinion pieces in all forms and for all platforms — photo, video, illustration or other multimedia approaches as well as more traditional columns, personal essays and analysis.

Contributing columnists work on a freelance basis, producing 1-2 pieces per month, and give the Forward the right of first refusal on Jewish-related pieces. Columnists may be asked to join Forward events, podcasts or social-media shows on occasion.

• a 300-word proposal introducing yourself and describing, in broad strokes, what your column would bring to the Forward and its readers

• 3 examples of your work (written or multimedia, depending on the proposal)
