Job Summary


This is a Central Office position located in St. Paul, MN. This position will have the option to telework; the employee will be required to complete a telework agreement.

MnDOT is seeking an experienced leader to provide managerial leadership and administrative direction to the Office of Construction & Innovative Contracting to ensure office and departmental objectives are met in the most efficient and effective manner. As the Contract Administrative Engineer, you will be responsible to manage the overall Contract Administration function for the MN Department of Transportation construction program.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must have a current licensure as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geo-science, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID)

AND

Five years of professional (post registration) engineering experience of which at least three years are at the Principal Engineer level or higher demonstrating project management on complex highway projects and/or in highway construction.

If you meet this requirement, and want to be considered further in the selection process, you must provide a cover letter with your resume summarizing your experience and knowledge in the following areas:

  • Leadership and Management: Experience to successfully lead and manage agency initiatives, develop, and implement innovative solutions to complex issues, and lead and motivate others who do not report directly in developing and completing projects/programs.
  • Fiscal and Human Resources Management: Experience managing fiscal and human resources for a multi-disciplined section. This includes experience with large and complex budgets and experience supervising staff including hiring, assigning, and evaluating work, promoting, disciplining, and training staff (provide number of staff and types of positions supervised).
  • Technical Expertise: Experience in the areas of project management, value engineering, life cycle costing, MnDOT Standard specifications, MnDOT Contract Administration policies, FHWA stewardship agreement, construction process and procedures, and an understanding of labor compliance.
  • Human Relations: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders; experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge in alternative contracting such as design-build and construction manager/general contractor.
