Join UChicago Medicine as a Construction Equipment Sourcing Manager in our Supply Chain department based in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago, IL.


The Construction Equipment Sourcing Manager reports to Director, Strategic Sourcing and is primarily responsible for overseeing the equipment sourcing related to all construction projects and new site launches across the UCM health system. This role has responsibility to ensure our construction projects are completed on-time and on-budget and ensure equipment standards are followed and collaborates between Facilities Operations team and Supply Chain along with IT and departmental stakeholders to drive lowest total cost of ownership while meeting stakeholder needs. The Sourcing Manager leads this effort and is key resource that engages with the equipment suppliers as needed in these projects to ensure successful delivery and on-site management and support when needed.


Essential Job Functions

  • Lead project equipment list development and validation.
  • Gather preliminary budget figures and confirming appropriate standards are used in collaboration with strategic sourcing, facilities operations, IT/clinical engineering and department leaders.
  • Load and update equipment information and status in equipment planning software tools (Attainia, Smartsheet, etc..) in a timely manner to keep project statistics up to date.
  • Lead effort requesting quotes and validating final specs meet need and getting department and facilities sign off, while driving lowest total cost of ownership of capital and on-going operating expenses driving to stay within project budgets and ensure department owners have service contract information for budgeting.
  • Collaborate with strategic sourcing to execute final quotes and necessary contract terms, and facilitate new supplier review and setup when needed.
  • Provide final approved quotes to the facilities teams to execute orders to hit necessary project timelines and milestones and providing appropriate reporting and equipment lead time review to mitigate any project timeline risks.
  • Prepare agenda and stats and lead weekly Supply Chain – Facilities Operations equipment status meetings and capture and follow up on necessary action items.
  • Provide reporting on all equipment sourcing progress to budget and timelines for construction projects to facilities and supply chain leadership on a regular basis, highlighting any key issues or risks for mitigation.
  • Lead effort with suppliers on equipment delivery and deployment timing and strategy in partnership with facilities.
  • Expedite deliveries where necessary and coordinates and executes equipment off-site warehousing and staging efforts where needed. Helps with site equipment deployments, “day in the life” planning, issue closure, and go-live support from an equipment perspective to ensure successful go-live, along with follow up closure of equipment related issues on new site go-lives.
  • Collaborate with facilities and purchasing on ensuring supplier invoices and are processed and bills paid timely.
  • Serve as lead resource from Supply Chain on equipment sourcing in construction project meetings and PMO meetings and for facilities operations Project Managers.
  • Actively engage in professional development to maintain current skills and knowledge of business trends and best practices.
  • Work to present best practices of UCM equipment sourcing process to industry.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Engineering, or related field
  • Three to Five+ years’ healthcare equipment sourcing and deployment work experience, with specific experience working on equipment sourcing & deployment in new construction projects
  • Strong analytical abilities including high aptitude for Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Strategic Sourcing and Total Cost of Ownership improvement process experience
  • Experience with capital equipment benchmarking tools and processes
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse cross-functional work teams and form strong relationships with medical staff leaders and clinicians

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Attainia equipment planning tool
  • Prior experience with Smartsheet, Tableau, and Oracle ERP

Position Details

  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Shift: Days Monday - Friday 8am-5pm
  • Hybrid Remote- no set day's on site but visiting sites that are under construction and doing walk throughs are needed
