This position supports the Applied Biology department by cultivating plans that may be used for research and to support the department's laboratory needs.
- Care for The Conservatory indoor and outdoor plant collections and the facility housing those collections.
- Assist in greenhouse operations including watering, sweeping, general sanitation, weeding, and outdoor garden maintenance including mulching, weeding, mulching, raking leaves, and watering.
- Have an interest in plants.
- Ability to listen and follow directions.
- Ability to consistently arrive on time.
- Must have a willingness to learn.
- Must be able to work under a variety of environmental conditions, including very warm and humid temperatures, inside and outside The Conservatory.
- Need to be able to perform physical tasks, including, but not limited to, lifting and dragging objects over 30 lbs., walking and standing, bending, and crouching for extended periods.
- Prefer some experience working with plants.
- Prefer some previous knowledge of horticulture or biology.
- Experience using garden tools.
