Job Summary:

This position supports the Applied Biology department by cultivating plans that may be used for research and to support the department's laboratory needs.



Essential Duties:
  • Care for The Conservatory indoor and outdoor plant collections and the facility housing those collections.
  • Assist in greenhouse operations including watering, sweeping, general sanitation, weeding, and outdoor garden maintenance including mulching, weeding, mulching, raking leaves, and watering.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Have an interest in plants.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions.
  • Ability to consistently arrive on time.
  • Must have a willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to work under a variety of environmental conditions, including very warm and humid temperatures, inside and outside The Conservatory.
  • Need to be able to perform physical tasks, including, but not limited to, lifting and dragging objects over 30 lbs., walking and standing, bending, and crouching for extended periods.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prefer some experience working with plants.
  • Prefer some previous knowledge of horticulture or biology.
  • Experience using garden tools.
