Job Title: Compliance & Maintenance Specialist

Department: Operations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Compliance & Maintenance Specialist must have 3 to 5 years of Transportation Compliance and a understanding of Class 8 Maintenance. Having a class, A CDL is a plus but not required. This candidate must be able to recruit other drivers, maintain equipment and meet all federal and state requirements for a logistics/transportation company. This position must be able to communicate with operations for any special instructions, roadside emergencies breakdowns, repairs of company fleet. Able to work with both vendors and our internal operational group for quality control on equipment. Able to test drive new driver candidates while meeting with drivers assisting in company policy for orientation. Full understanding of DOT compliance and logs. Assist with purchasing with vendors for equipment requests for best price and service.

Responsibilities

• Recruit Class A quality drivers
• Able to road test drivers that meet company policy
• Maintain compliance for tractor or trailer PM’s and files when requested
• Knowledge of trailer maintenance and repair
• A understanding of requirements for DOT inspections, BIT inspections, and or troubleshooting with vendors on all company tractors and trailers.
• Provide guidance to drivers how to manage the HOS & Logs (ELT)
• Oversee all performed maintenance by outside vendors for quality control
• Responsible for updating documentation for all reporting to HR & Fleet Manager.
• Monitor equipment directed by Management for PM and BIT inspections while rotating equipment when red tagged.
• Keep track of all company equipment
• Maintain all maintenance, diagnostic, parts, tires and schedule repairs and everything related to fleet. .

Qualifications

• Must be flexible on travel and support
• Diesel Mechanic Experience with general knowledge of Detroit's & Cummings engines is a plus
• Having a valid Class, A CDL license is a plus, but not required
• High School Diploma: College Degree is a plus.
• Strong decision making and problem-solving skills is required
• Detailed in inventory control
• Three to Five years of progressive compliance & maintenance repair experience.
• Familiarity with D.O.T. & HOS regulations
• Trained on ELD units to include Samsara for tracking and HOS
• Maintain company software for Maintinance programs
• Strong Microsoft Office knowledge
• Spanish bilingual preferred

Administrative – Plans, administrates and organizes paperwork related to DOT compliance for repair and documentation. Provide records and any other information to include but not be limited to:

• Trailer Repair Receipts, Interchange paperwork, actual repair work and parts
• Inventory of tires or any other company tools.
• Have a basic understanding federal, state and local employment compliance regulations to assist the Day-to-Day Operations.

Organizational – Plans, organizes and updates system to support efficient, useful information to work in a fast-paced environment. Excellent command of deadlines and a high degree of accurate reporting.

Communication – Proficient in English, effectively communicates with customers and vendors while able to possess excellent negotiation skills.

Decision Making – Must be able to handle stressful situations, while making sound, timely, relevant decisions, and judgments in driver/customer requests.

Representation – Verbal, written, presentation and communication skills that assure timely and accurate data for payables and receivable reporting

Analytical – Ability to gather relevant facts and use them to reach sound and logical conclusions pertaining to primary areas of responsibility. Possess an excellent understanding of time management, overall decision making, critical thinking, problem-solving and being able to multi-task.

Reasoning - Ability to define/solve problems on equipment while collecting data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to ensure accurate, correct, and timely updates to Fleet Management

Self-Reliance – Operates semi-independently, moderately self-managed. Work is largely reviewed by success in facilitating, consulting, and reaching agreement with others, rather than by formal review.

Research – Sources relevant information, data, authorities, and resources to meet company needs consistent with primary areas of responsibility.

Computer/Technical – Skilled in computer usage and knowledge of diagnostic work related to company equipment. Understanding of software relevant to the performance of the primary areas of responsibility. All Microsoft Office products and our proprietary company accounting software. Daily use of Professional Services Automation Tools/Samsara/ HOS/ Safety Reports and totally trained on laptop providing diagnostic with maintenance software with our Compliance department.

Compensation: Hourly between $22-$27 per hour plus any overtime

Benefits: Medical allowance provided after 90 introductory period
