Reporting to the Director of Advancement, The Community Relations Specialist helps OhioGuidestone to promote the agency, recruit volunteers, implement media campaigns and achieve fundraising goals. This individual must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and community- and mission-driven.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Experience with community relations and/or fundraising in non profit setting.
- Strategize the planning of, and support the implementation of, all community relations and fundraising strategies for the Northwest region.
- Represent OhioGuidestone, work with the Advancement team, and agency leadership to develop and implement initiatives that increase the agency’s visibility within the Northwest region
- Integrate supporters of the former A Renewed Mind and Double Arc agency into the fabric of OhioGuidestone donors.
- Schedule regular engagement opportunities such as lunch and learns, dinners or tours during which stakeholders or prospective stakeholders can see firsthand the efforts and impact of OhioGuidestone programs in Northwest Ohio.
- Connect people in the broader community to OhioGuidestone’s mission by cultivating relationships with businesses, individuals, families, churches, and relevant organizations.
- Respond to inquiries from community members and other interested parties; when needed, recruit a knowledgeable spokesperson or information source to assist.
- Maintain a calendar of activities including events conducted by or held on behalf of OhioGuidestone as well as community events where the agency should have representatives in attendance
- Attend team meetings to share success stories and learn from others – keeping Northwest region informed of the entire agency’s efforts and sharing out Northwest regional achievements.
- Collaborate internally with communications team by providing information and updates about the Northwest region to assist with integrated communications plan.
- Work with grants team to identify opportunities for grants benefiting general operating, capital improvements and program-specific dollars.
- Work with database manager to track activity, show progress and create reports focusing on the Northwest Ohio Region’s efforts and progress.
- Create and coordinate special projects for the Central Ohio region (ex. donor appeals etc.)
- May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events, specific projects, or program changes other than stated above.

- Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment, and present the agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts.

Performance/Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Interacts verbally with coworkers, supervisors, vendors, and a variety of community stakeholders.
- Works flexible hours, which can include days, evenings, and weekends, as desired to meet the needs of the agency.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance to the satisfaction of management

Qualifications:
- Minimum educational level is a High School Diploma or GED, or bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- Experience with community relations and/or fundraising in a nonprofit setting.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
- Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis test and drug screening.
- Employment is contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
- Funding sources may require OhioGuidestone to hire an advanced degree
