As a Community Outreach Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating education and awareness programs and partnerships with key constituents for the purposes of supporting the integrity of the organ and tissue donation and transplant process in Indiana, promoting public understanding of the on-going need for organ and tissue donation and to increase the number of Indiana donor designation share.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develops and coordinates public education and awareness programs through targeted events and activations
  • Serves as a member of the Youth Education team
  • Leads strategic sponsorships program
  • Participates in projects, committees or initiatives that enhance or improve the overall success or culture of the organization

This position supports a territory in central Indiana, and is based out of our Indianapolis, IN office.

A bachelor’s degree in education, marketing, public relations, health administration or health-related fields is preferred1, as well as three to five years’ experience in the related field. Three to five (3-5) years of experience and proficiency in building relationships within diverse communities preferred. Experience with formation and maintenance of community coalitions a plus.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrates computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Salesforce, Survey Monkey, and the ability to use and maintain a contact database.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to exercise tact and represent the organization in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ability to develop and implement presentations and/or lectures to a diverse audience including the general public, healthcare professionals and the Indiana Donor Network staff.
  • Ability to create persuasive written communication for a diverse audience on a variety of topics related to organ, tissue, and eye donation and transplantation with specific written outputs being professional letters and email correspondence, newsletter articles and social media posts.
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with a variety of people and personalities, and ability to embrace diversity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality for all donation-related information including contributor gift history.
  • Knowledge of community, academic and medical resources for diverse populations.
  • Must be accurate with data input and when preparing correspondence.
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic knowledge of human biology and anatomy and to confidently explain the organ, tissue, and eye donation and transplantation process.
  • Creative problem solving, and delegating skills.
  • Must have a valid Indiana driver’s license and be able to drive to various locations throughout the state of Indiana with possible overnight stays.
