JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

RATE OF PAY: Grade 3, Starting at $12.38 hour.

NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK: 40

NUMBER OF MONTHS PER YEAR: 12 months

LOCATION: Main Office, Tazewell, Virginia

DUTIES: The Community Educator works on a variety of projects which furthers the domestic violence and sexual assault prevention programs. These projects include awareness activities, classroom presentations, educational presentations, and other community outreach and public awareness activities in the Tazewell and Russell county area. This individual will help meet ROMA goals. Attendance and punctuality are essential parts of this job.

EDUCATION: ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s Degree preferred and/or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job;

• Must work well with persons of varied sexual preference, racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds;
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
• Must be able and willing to attend out of town, overnight meetings;
• Must be able to work flexible hours;
• Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision; and
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and preferably databases.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must get TB screening, Physical, Sex Offender Check, CPS, DMV, Criminal Record check, must be proficient in English;

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift minimum number of 25 pounds. This position requires bending, lifting, walking, talking, seeing, sitting, running, speakin, and hearing
