Community Coach (Ramsey County) – Contractual
Job description
Model Cities is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action EmployerRamsey County Community Corrections has engaged Model Cities of St. Paul, Inc. to carry out Community Coaching services to support its Alternative to Detention (ATD) program. The Community Coaching program targets youth who are struggling with compliance or needing to participate in a community-based activity as a condition of their probation. Community Coaching is a short-term, individualized support program that will assist youth in problem solving, complying with probation requirements, and target objectives established by the youth’s Probation Officer. The goal of the program is to increase public safety by connecting youth who are on probation to pro-social activities, developing their skills to maintain pro-social relationships and structuring their free time.
Duties
- The Community Coach will work with youth referred by Community Corrections.
- The Coach will monitor, support and link the youth to pro-social activities and community-based services.
- The Coach will also serve as a short-term intervention for those youth who are at risk of probation violations that may result in detention or other out-of-home placement.
Qualifications
Baccalaureate degree or at least 5 years of progressive experience in youth development or a related human services field. Previous experience working with youth; preferably “high risk” youth populations, a plus. Applicant must have a good driving record, a valid Minnesota driver’s license and valid auto insurance as required by Model Cities. Applicant must also be able to transport youth as needed for activities and upon contracting, be able to meet requirements of a background check that minimally includes the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and a Minnesota Social Services record check for vulnerable adult or child maltreatment findings.
Compensation
$22 per hour (all inclusive)
