The Communications Specialist – U.S. & Canada is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of the U.S. and Canada (USCAN) region’s employee, media, and executive communications strategy, keeping alignment with GE HealthCare’s overall communications strategy and global messaging. The role will support business leaders by executing a communications strategy and priorities aligned with the region’s priorities.This role will report to the Head of Communications – U.S. & Canada.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Working with the USCAN communications team and in partnership with the regional business leaders, leverage key business priorities to create and execute communications strategies that move the needle for the region internally and externally. With assistance, develop plans to execute through multi-channel communications programs that further the region’s business success and commercial imperatives.
- Work with the External Affairs team to actively promote and protect the company in the media (trade, consumer, and social), financial community, general public, and other centers of influence.
- With assistance, build and execute thought leadership strategies for key leaders of the USCAN executive team (e.g., LinkedIn, speaking engagements).
- Working with the Region Marketing and Commercial teams, partner with customers and prospects to jointly tell outcomes-driven stories.
- Collaborate with the broader GE HealthCare Corporate Marketing and Communications team to execute global external and internal communications plans and programs within the region, which support business strategy and priorities, and drives awareness and engagement of key culture and operational initiatives and activations.
- Be a strategic and trusted communications consultant to USCAN leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of communications experience.
- This position can sit anywhere in the U.S. or Canada but with preference for Chicago, IL.

- Strong written communication, presentation, and planning skills with demonstrated experience speaking and writing clearly, tailoring for intended audiences.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects, including with sometimes conflicting deadlines, and cope well under pressure, staying calm to operate effectively in high-stress challenging and/or frustrating situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills; ability to work virtually with team members located across the region.
- Interest and understanding of current affairs to influence plans.
- Ability to work in a complex business matrix.
- Uses judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated, day-to-day problems.
- Uses technical experience and analytical thinking.
- Integrity: accepting and adhering to high ethical, moral, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions, and when dealing with others.
- Fluent in English (written and oral).
