Responsibilities and Qualifications:

The Communications Specialist serves as a member of the Human Resources and Communications team at Asbury and supports company-wide communications initiatives. This person will be responsible for supporting the business units’ key objectives including bolstering the company’s image, developing and implementing effective communications to more than 15,000 employees across 15 states, working with media outlets, supporting increased collaboration across the company’s different departments, supporting dealerships and General Managers in implementing effective communications tools, and sharing stories and content throughout the organization.

Key Tasks:

  • Managing and supporting internal communications channels
  • Writing people stories to be published on internal and external communications channels
  • Developing intranet content
  • Writing internal and external promotional materials
  • Managing media relationships and press inquiries
  • Managing of video projects
  • Social media content creation and management
  • Assisting with executive communications, including presentations
  • Assisting with national, dealership or market communications, including press releases
  • Light graphic design work and ensuring materials meet brand standards
  • Supporting key initiatives, including human resources, benefits, compensation, recruiting, sustainability, safety, and diversity and inclusion
Job Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills required
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Great interviewer and storyteller
  • Photography, videography and editing skills a plus
  • Experience with social and traditional media
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud and/or Canva
  • Team player
  • Proactive mindset
  • A resourceful self-starter
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or related field
  • Two to four years of experience in communications/public relations


This role will report to the Corporate Communications Manager with frequent interaction with the Human Resources team. The job is based at Asbury’s Corporate Headquarters in Duluth, Georgia and may periodically require travel.
