ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
Student Success at the University of South Florida is comprised of 60 departments across three campuses, providing students with academic support, engagement opportunities, health & wellness services and enhancement of the educational experience.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Content Developer is an expert at crafting relevant, captivating, and engaging content producing a wide variety of content in support of USF Admissions and Orientation, USF Online, multiple colleges, departments and corporate training programs. This individual is adept at organizing and presenting content in a meaningful manner using AP style and cleverly weaving keywords and phrases throughout the text to attract the desired target audience based on market research. Reporting to the St. Petersburg-based Regional Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Success for Enrollment and Transitions, the individual also works closely with the Creative Manager on the Tampa-based Strategic Initiatives unit. The content developer will work closely with the creative and digital strategy teams, collaborate with the data and marketing research staff, and works on campus-specific initiatives as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a unique content strategy for each audience persona identified in each marketing campaign plan, and use as the blueprint for crafting clear, concise marketing content designed to recruit undergraduate, graduate and international students to the University of South Florida.
Develop content for a variety of marketing platforms, to include writing and organizing content for websites, landing pages, email campaigns, digital publications, social media sites, blogs, reports, brochures, presentations, etc.
USF St. Petersburg Campus Communication Support:
Collaborate with USF St. Petersburg campus colleagues to assist with strategy, produce and disseminate communications specific to USF St. Petersburg new student enrollment needs as part of an overarching USF enrollment strategy. Create content for yield communications that arise from unexpected or unplanned situations. Provide promotional event direction and day-of-event support for on-campus and virtual events at the St. Petersburg campus. Assist with Student Success Divisional Committees. Other St. Petersburg duties as assigned.
Continuously proofread, fact-check, edit and revise existing marketing content, to include vetting content on websites, landing pages, email campaigns, digital publications, social media sites, blogs, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in communication, marketing, public relations, technical writing, digital media, or related field, with two years of experience in related positions; or a Master’s degree in the fields listed above. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED:
Preferred applicants will possess a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field. Preferred applicant will have 2-3 years of experience in developing content for the marketing industry or higher education.
Must possess the following skills:
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills with knowledge of AP and MLA style
- Strong organizational skills - must be able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong analytical skills - must be able to analyze information and make strategic recommendations
- Experience using a variety of modern marketing and team tools such as HubSpot, Creative Cloud, Asana, Slack, Teams, etc.
- Must possess a positive attitude, collaborative spirit and a forward-thinking mindset.
- Must possess the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, nimble environment with many cross-functional partners.
