Position Title: Commercial & Real Estate Paralegal
Location: Dallas, TX preferred (Hybrid) but also open to Austin, TX (Hybrid)
Your role
This position, based in Dallas or Austin, is an opportunity to join our Legal Risk Sustainability (LRS) department as a paralegal in our U.S. Commercial & Real Estate (CRE) Legal Team. This role broadly supports the U.S. CRE Legal Team, which partners with Sales and Marketing on customer contracting, Portfolio Management on customer-related matters and real estate matters, and Operations on operational and facility management matters. This position reports to the VP & DGC, Commercial Operations, who will manage this Paralegal’s workload to support the U.S. CRE Legal Team.
What you’ll do
- With oversight from the Legal team, review and/or negotiate NDAs, updating the NDA playbook and processes.
- Assist with drafting, reviewing and/or negotiating customer, broker, marketing, vendor and other agreements (e.g., termination letters, marketing agreements, broker registration letters, standard MSAs/order forms and other commercial agreements).
- Assist with day-to-day operations and real estate matters (e.g., lien waivers, easements) as well as transactional matters (e.g., financings, dispositions, acquisitions).
- Manage sign off process in DocuSign for NDAs and other documents managed by the Legal team, providing backup support as needed for execution of documents for U.S. CRE matters.
- Manage database containing commercial and/or other agreements.
- Manage a variety of customer-related matters (e.g., troubled customers, customers in bankruptcy proceedings) with oversight from attorneys in U.S. CRE and Litigation Legal teams.
- Assist Legal team with various projects, including extracting information for and about customers, as required.
- Work with Legal and LRS Operations teams to optimize processes and playbooks and improve and automate standard templates across U.S. CRE matters.
- Support the Legal team and business on regulatory and audit issues and project management.
What you’ll need
- Bachelors’ degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and work ethic.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- A minimum of eight years of substantive legal experience.
- Willing to work on a broad variety of matters in a fast-paced environment; agile.
- Detail oriented, friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and disposition with a corresponding level of maturity.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to act with sound business judgment in ambiguous situations.
- Team player who can easily handle shifting priorities and pressure, multi-tasking in a deadline-oriented environment.
- IT-minded (and familiarity with basic IT systems, including Oracle and SharePoint).
