The Clinical Research Coordinator for Dr. Alison Lee’s (Principal Investigator, PI) team will be based in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, as well as at Health and Hospitals Elmhurst and Queens Hospitals. This individual will assist the PI in conducting clinical research projects, including participant recruitment, retention and study visits. The Coordinator will become a core team member for projects addressing social determinants of health for local populations and community birth support for justice-involved and housing-insecure populations in Queens, NYC. The position will be based in New York City.
The coordinator will work across the program development, implementation, and research continuum, from supporting project development, ethics and regulatory submissions, data analysis, ongoing monitoring and evaluation of interventions, and dissemination of findings through presentations and manuscripts. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about health equity and wants to learn and grow in a fast-paced and dynamic academic research environment. They will need to be highly motivated and able to work independently. This role is contingent on funding; however, we expect that our work will extend beyond the three-year grant period.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, conduct, and evaluate community based participatory action research, implementation science research, and cohort studies via study protocols, literature reviews, partnership coordination, quantitative and qualitative data collection, data analyses, interpretation, preparation of reports and manuscripts, and dissemination.
- Expand partnership between Arnhold Institute for Global Health partnership with NYC H+H/Elmhurst and Queens and strengthen relationships and communication with community organizations and stakeholders in Queens and at NYC H+H.
- Administrative and program management:
- Schedule program work, oversee daily operations, coordinate the activities of the program, and set priorities for managing the program.
- Manage correspondences and other administrative duties across all areas of the program, including maintaining a secure and regularly updated database of all program-related documents and materials.
- Provide administrative support for program activities as directed by the Program Manager and PI, including taking minutes from weekly calls, scheduling project calls and meetings, arranging for audiovisual needs, and other duties as assigned.
- Provides assistance to the PI on grant applications. Assists in the development of budgets for research projects.
- Partnerships and community engagement:
- Assist in the preparation of program documents, applications, and correspondences for program partners.
- Provide technical and other support for implementing workshops, forums, and other learning events at the local level to disseminate results of project-wide assessments, communicate innovative approaches and good practices, and share research findings as appropriate, for knowledge-sharing and for building or sustaining partnerships.
- Coordinates and communicates with study partners to support collaboration and community engagement. Assists in supervision of trainees.
- Research Coordination:
- Participates in the design and implementation of research projects focusing on community health systems, interventions and their associated health outcomes.
- Support data management and analysis activities, including data entry, verification, and cleaning for research projects.
- Support in the development of REDCap databases as needed. Support qualitative and quantitative analysis of data.
- Documents and records observations on progress of research, investigations and data per regulatory requirements and protocols.
- Completes all Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory applications and renewals.
- Develops consent forms, screens and enrolls participants, follows participants through course of study with clinic and home-based visits including collection of biological samples, collects and supports in the analysis of data.
- Assist in the development and drafting of manuscripts and other research dissemination activities, including background literature searches, summaries, reports, and formatting manuscript components for publication.
- Participates in conferences, meetings and seminars concerning research projects.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in public health, global health, or relevant degree; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience: 1-2 years prior research experience in data management and study coordination in public health or healthcare services research.
- Previous experience in reproductive health sector, preferred.
- Previous experience in data collection and management (qualitative and/or quantitative), preferred.
- Expertise in local context of Queens, NYC

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58,661.00 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
