Description:
Responsible for strategic direction and coordination of all aspects of the operation of the microbiology (molecular, bacteriology, virology) laboratories across Baptist Health South Florida. Ensures standardization of instrumentation, policies and procedures. Possesses expert knowledge in the field, as well as new developments in order to set standards, provide clinical and technical direction and interpretation of the specialty, and perform critical evaluations of new and existing procedures. Ensures BHSF microbiology labs provide evidence based, quality results. Coordinates, supports, and represents microbiology activities with the general medical staff, referring physicians, infection control, pharmacy and therapeutics, and other departments. Directs, performs, and publishes clinical research.
Qualifications:
Doctorate. Ph.D. in clinical microbiology, virology, mycology, molecular pathology, or parasitology, or a physician licensed to practice medicine in Florida. Clinical research experience with peer reviewed published research. State of Florida, Clinical Laboratory Director license in Microbiology.
