Rebound is the largest orthopedic and neurosurgical practice in the Portland-Vancouver area with an array of sub-specialties including orthopedics, brain and spine care, sports medicine, physiatry, physical therapy and hand therapy. We are looking for a full time Clinical Athletic Trainer support our clinical team and providers in Vancouver, WA. The role will perform a variety of patient care and clerical activities to assist physicians and provider personnel within scope of licensure. This role specifically will be supporting our medical clinics only, not our physical therapy clinics. The ideal candidate will possess great organizational skills and energy, a can-do attitude, a desire to learn the practice, and a collaborative team spirit. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a superior commitment to patient care, and the ability to work closely with patients and physicians.
Responsibilities:

- Escort patients to exam room and assist in chart documentation.
- Take vital signs and assist patients in patient flow through the clinic.
- Prepare exam rooms and instruments for examination and testing. Stocks supplies.
- Label, prepare and maintain proper storage for specimens and tests. Ensure tests are picked up by lab personnel and obtains results.
- Ensure that lab reports, imaging and other information is available to providers.
- Assist physicians and APP’s with minor diagnostic procedures and treatments as directed.
- Check appointment schedule and assist Call Center with physicians’ patient schedule.
- Issue out-patient materials. Assist in application and patient instruction.
- Schedule patients for testing procedures.
- Perform splinting, casting, bandaging, wound care, suture removal and dressing changes as appropriate.
- Assist with general exercise education for rehabilitation, pre and post operative exercise guidance (and establish bridge to physical therapy as appropriate).
- Assist with initial patient examination, triage of acute injury within scope.
- Fit crutches, canes, braces and orthotics.
- Order diagnostics, prescriptions and assist with forms completion as delegated.
- Communicate with patients regarding pre and post-operative questions, as well as assist with answering clinical calls/questions.
- Evaluate, and advise patients to assist recovery from injury, avoid injury, or maintain peak physical fitness.
- Evaluate athletes' readiness to play or participate in sporting activities and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.
- Apply protective or injury preventive devices such as tape, bandages, or braces to body parts.
- Collaborate with physicians and physical therapists in order to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation.
- Inform athletes and families of important aspects of athlete’s present condition, including concussion, wound care, first aide and follow-up care.
- Attend required meetings and in-services, and participates in committees as requested.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training required. Masters with additional fellowship training to be considered a Physician Extender (PE) preferred.
- NBCOT (Certified Orthopedic Technologist) preferred.
- One year of clinical work experience, preferably in an orthopedic clinic setting
- Current BLS certification.
- (BOC) Board certification examination. :
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed.
- Skill in taking vital signs.
- Skill in maintaining records.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
