Job Title: Airport CAD Technician II
Job Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt
Salary Range: $22 to $30 per hour
Location: Grand Junction, CO

Armstrong Consultants is currently looking for an exceptional, highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Civil 3D/CAD Technician. Applicants must demonstrate intermediate knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office Suite applications, and Adobe Acrobat software. Candidate must conform to appropriate company standards and CAD best practices. The ability to organize work, set priorities, pay attention to detail, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision is essential. The location for this role is on-site in Grand Junction, CO.

Position Overview: The Airport CAD Technician II performs a variety of moderate design tasks, which builds upon program functions and capabilities, while conforming to staff and operating procedures of the firm, and policies and procedures of review entities. Receives close supervision on new aspects of assignments. Assist both Engineers & Planners with sketches, exhibits and construction drawings for regional and general aviation airports.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Produces construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting/design software to include in construction drawing sets, quantity take offs, sketches, and exhibits.
  • Produces airport layout plan documents and exhibits.
  • Lays out and scales the components of each drawing, prepares the appropriate existing condition plan, demolition/removal plan, proposed conditions, and details as required.
  • Completes small grading projects with some assistance.
  • Completes redlines/design changes as directed by Engineer/Planner/CAD Manager.
  • Begins learning more advanced Civil 3D functions (i.e., surface creation, grading, profiles)
  • Ensures compliance with company CAD standards within the scope of assigned projects.
  • Manages multiple projects adhering to deadlines and prioritized assignments.
  • Maintains file management of AutoCAD files and other documents per company standards.
  • Communicates effectively with other team members on joint projects.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of applicable experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD platforms.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat or other PDF editing software.
  • Possess both a strong willingness and the ability to learn.
  • Carefully follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Quickly adapt to processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude with the ability to work and be engaged in a team setting.
  • Problem solver.
  • Applicants MUST be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Successfully complete a Civil 3D proficiency test.
  • Airport knowledge is desired but not required.
