Job description
The SR Kids position will support the mission, vision, and ministry of South Ridge Community Church by coordinating and providing leadership to ministries for children. This role will involve overseeing Sunday Morning Kids Ministry, training leaders to invest in kids of different ages and stages, partnering with parents in the discipleship of their family, organizing our childcare team for special events, and helping support some family ministry groups. The SR Kids Ministry Coordinator seeks for kids to “Experience Belonging, Embrace God’s Grace and Extend God’s Love”- by applying the mission to every aspect of their job.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership
- Work with the Pastor of Family Ministry in ensuring that the mission of South Ridge for kids to Experience Belonging – Embrace God’s Grace – Extend God’s Love is fulfilled.
- Work with Pastor of Family Ministry in continuous development, evaluation, problem solving, and strategizing for the SR Kids Ministry.
- Function as a strategic member of the SR Family Ministry staff team in the ongoing development of Family Ministry.
SR Kids
Sunday Morning- This ministry serves kids from nursery through 6thgrade by teaching the Bible, building relationships, and enjoying activities. This takes place during our 9:00 am and 10:45 am services on Sunday morning.
- Envision, equip, and empower Bible teachers to fulfill the South Ridge mission in Kids Ministry.
- Recruit, support, communicate, and oversee volunteers (leaders, teachers, support, subs).
- Develop and evaluate curriculum in collaboration with Pastor of Family Ministry.
- Create volunteer schedule and distribute to ministry leaders.
- Schedule, train, and oversee the check-in team.
- Lead Sunday morning ministry by being a presence and assisting with leader and kids needs.
AREA 56- This ministry journeys with 5th and 6thgrade students through relationships, biblical discussion, and regular gatherings. AREA56 meets weekly on Sunday morning at 9:00 am and periodically for monthly activities.
- Coordinate and communicate events in collaboration with volunteers.
- Recruit, support, and disciple volunteers who lead AREA 56.
- Attend events and gatherings for AREA 56 kids.
- Intentionally bridge AREA 56 kids to Student Ministry throughout 6th grade.
Special Events
- Childcare: organize childcare team by communicating, training, and help schedule.
- Family Gathering: help organize family gatherings that provide discipleship and community.
- VBS: help with communicating, be a presence, and follow up with families from the week.
- Mom’s Mentoring Moms: set-up, check-in and greet families, fill in volunteer role (if needed).
- The Forge: assist with the preparation of elements and supporting the group.
- Milestones: facilitate celebration memorable moments in relationship with kids, students, and families (child dedication, grad celebration, driver’s license, first day of school, identity).
Other
- Contribute to church website to update and post current, relevant ministry information, events, and registrations.
- Help manage and produce content for the Family Ministry social media.
- In partnership with the SR Kids ministry assistant, manage and organize supply rooms. (SR Kids resource room, SR Kids cabinets/closet in Activity Center, SR Kids barn area and shed).
- Communication: Prepare relevant SR Kids information for our weekly Info Hub, regularly connect with SR Kids parents on Family Ministry roster, and contact kids who have not attended in a while (postcards, workflow).
- Participate in the preparation of the Children’s Ministry annual budget in coordination with Pastor of Family Ministries.
- Organize and prepare meetings for volunteers and parents, including communications and purchasing and preparing refreshments.
- Set up and clean up ministry events, gatherings, and more.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A growing personal relationship with Christ.
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
- Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and ability to learn specialized applications. Experience with Planning Center is a plus.
- Ability to maintain and keep confidential information secure.
- Ability to relate to parents, volunteers, and children.
