Job description

Horton Vineyards is a 35,000 case per year winery located between Charlottesville, VA and Culpeper, VA. We are seeking a full-time or part time cellar hand to join our team and work directly with the Winemaker. Previous winery experience is not required, but some basic mechanical knowledge/ability would be preferred. Please note that you will be expected to work overtime and on weekends during harvest.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
• Follow all written and verbal instructions.
• A team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Able to work independently without supervision
• Willing to learn in the cellar and laboratory
• Able to lift 50 pounds and carry out basic building and equipment maintenance
• Winemaking cellar tasks

Racking, blending, additions, barrel maintenance, topping, equipment
maintenance and sanitation, etc.

• Complete and record work orders assigned by the Winemaker
• Operate harvest equipment.
• Give input in tasting and blending sessions
• Recognize and report potential issues in both wine and equipment
• Forklifting harvest bins, barrels, etc. (training provided)

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Subject to change during harvest and bottling times

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
