The Category Management Analyst is responsible for analyzing product data in order to assist in the development of new planograms, as well as existing planograms for our Category Management team, as well as analyzing planogram performance and member planogram return on investment. Develop actionable insights and recommendations from multiple data sources and delivers them in a clear and concise manner to the organization. This position is also responsible for using this data in the development of new planograms and the maintenance of existing planograms. Interacts with the Marketing, Sales and Business Development, and other cross functional teams, and at times, directly with members. Assists with other merchandising/category management projects as needed.
Travel: Do it Best spring and fall markets; light domestic travel

Responsibilities:
  • Provide product sales and point of sale data that will help the Category Management team build new and update all assigned department planograms as well as planograms to support the Category Solutions program
  • Enable members to increase customer satisfaction with merchandise selection/assortments and drive sales.
  • Provide members with the ability to respond quickly to customer trends and market opportunities.
  • Give members a competitive advantage at serving DIY customers and professional tradesmen.
  • Incorporate new merchandising techniques and methods to increase member store sales.
  • Help members and Do it Best Corp. grow
  • Apply data analytics to the planogram creation process (i.e. member point of sale data, warehouse sales data)
  • Assist in providing data that will help the team build regionalized and store specific assortments.
  • Assist in researching opportunities that will allow customized member planograms including revenue generation for this service
  • Research, analyze and develop customized planograms for member projects, as approved and needed
  • Complete competitor store merchandising audits as needed (i.e. competitor new store format openings, evaluation of categories/ merchandise by department)
  • Use above data points and analysis to create, develop and maintain planograms for your own assigned departments and categories within the JDA Space Planning system
  • Develop and execute plans for featuring product and planograms in special merchandising areas at spring and fall markets. Assist in staffing booths and selling to members from assigned areas at markets.
  • Respond to member, field staff, and vendor requests for merchandising planogram and category management information.
  • Collaborate with others on category management team.
  • Participate in select courses through the Category Management Associations Certified Professional Category Analyst designation.
  • Analyze relevant data for ad-hoc and reoccurring reporting needs.
  • Create deep dive analysis to study key area trends.
  • Runs ad-hoc analyses to identify and recommend innovative options to drive business strategy.
Education and Experience:
Minimum
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/ Business or 3-5 years’ experience in retail, preferably in the hardware or home improvement industry.
  • Experience with product categorization, expertise in merchandising concepts and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Basic computer software knowledge of the Google Suite & Microsoft products: Outlook, Word, Excel, Access.
Desired
  • Knowledge of and experience with space planning software such as Pro Space, Pegman, Intercept, Spaceman, or Apollo.
  • Experience with analytical methodology and software to facilitate the development of product assortment strategies.
  • Beginner or intermediate level Category Management experience developing planograms, product assortments and retail merchandising projects.
  • Firm grasp of assortment planning concepts.
