Position Details
POSITION SUMMARY
The Career Services Manager oversees multiple sites in providing program participants and members of the general public career services to overcome personal and financial barriers to gaining and maintaining employment through community resources and intensive case management services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Promote and provide oversight of case management services to include intervention and frequent in person contact with program participants, participants’ families, referring sponsors, and employers at multiple career services locations
- Ensures and coaches goal oriented case management through assessment, information gathering, progress monitoring and problem solving at multiple career services sites
- Work with the Assessments Specialist and workforce development managers to review participant assessments results and identify potential barriers to employment for newly registered clients.
- Ensures the development of personalized services plans with clients is occurring to link them to internal and external resources that are designed to help people overcome barriers to employment.
- Consult regularly with client’s management team members to ensure that all aspects of the Individual Service Plans are fully implemented. Document participants’ progress in reaching objectives and goals, and recommend changes when necessary.
- Determine potential participants’ ability to qualify for programs. Answer questions and coordinate internal and external consumer centered services, or provides referrals to other agencies for multiple career services sites
- Provide information and resources to WFD staff and clients that will help them achieve their goals and overcome barriers to employment. Ensures clients are up to date and receive information about their job search and ongoing barriers.
- Monitor the daily operations of multiple geographically dispersed career services sites.
- Coordinate with the assessment team to identify career exploration tools for client use in the center and monitor usage.
- Maintain goals for clients to register and access resources.
- Market sufficient referrals to meet weekly and monthly goals of Workforce Development programs and services.
- Ensure files are updated and maintained through the Client Management System. Provide data for outcomes measurement and assist with surveys and audits.
- Participate in and/or manage other Workforce Development related programs including marketing programs to the community and seeking/attending related educational opportunities to expand knowledge.
- Maintain confidentiality of documentation and information received.
- Prepare and deliver timely performance appraisals for direct reports, and ensure performance appraisals for assigned work units are completed on time and in a quality manner. Coordinate with Human Resources to administer rewards and recognition, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, or terminations in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Continuously develop and provide training and coaching opportunities to all assigned staff.
- Monitor and address performance issues on a timely basis.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Services, Human Resources or Education required.
- Ability to obtain UNT certificates for Job Coach/Job Skills, Placement, and Supportive Employment Services in order to work with DARS participants.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience managing in a vocational education, career placement, employment agency environment with proven measurable placement outcomes related to goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively collaborate with multiple constituencies to achieve mission goals
- Intermediate skills in MS Office-Word, PPT, Excel, and people services databases.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- For positions that require driving, must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, and be able to travel as needed if you drive your vehicle during company business.
