Buyer Planner

The Company

MJM Industries, Inc. is an electronic contract manufacturer of custom electrical harnesses, over-molded assemblies, flat flexible cables, and box builds. An ISO 9001 certified company, its business has grown through innovative manufacturing solutions. The plant is situated in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, consuming 35,000 square feet and approximately 90 employees.

The Opportunity

The Buyer Planner is responsible for the costing, negotiation, review and purchase of raw materials, parts, equipment, services, and supplies necessary for operation of the organization. In addition, the Buyer Planner issues work orders to Manufacturing once all materials are available for production use. Utilization of the Engineering staff and manufacturing department is critical to controlling inventory levels, costs, and cost down opportunities. The Buyer Planner must identify and build vendor relations, while satisfying department goals, and meeting business plan objectives.

The position reports directly to the President and will work in a collaborative environment with engineering, sales, and manufacturing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Initiates all material quotes

· Responsible for the purchase of all machinery, equipment, raw material, services, and supplies

· Negotiates contracts and all pricing and freight programs with qualified sources

· Maintains, reviews, and updates the AVL (approved vendor log)

· Assures timely return of non-conforming materials

· Directly responsible for inventory turns, raw material freight costs

· Responsible for setting, reviewing, and auditing cycle counts

· End of Month close responsibilities

· Maintain all records of purchases, delivery dates, vendors, and costs

· Observes budgetary limits and makes purchases with the greatest possible economy and interest to cash flow

· Utilizes the MRP system to develop delivery schedules and purchase orders

· Creates a monthly MRO analysis

· Provides annual budget needs for the business plan

· Conducts Vendor reviews and approvals

· Chairperson to the Annual Inventory Committee

· Presents at EOM meetings - metrics, projects, corrective actions

Personal Qualifications

The ideal candidate must be a dynamic, high-energy individual with proven organizational and time management skills. They must possess exceptional communication skills and can ensure that key stakeholders within the company receive all relevant purchasing information during the product development and build process. They will be professional, and customer orientated, with the ability to meet or exceed company delivery, freight, cost down and inventory turn goals. The person will have a proven track record in purchasing wire, cable, and electrical components.

Job Requirements

· College degree / 5-10 years related experience in purchasing and electronics

· Demonstrated success in negotiating material contracts and Freight Programs

· Responsible for Vendor OT delivery, Freight Fees, and Cost Reduction Initiatives

· Proficient in MRP software and Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
