The Buyer/Planner will be detail-oriented Strategic and responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, reviewing inventory levels, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management. The buyer will work with staff across departments to forecast the needs of the business and make purchase decisions based on demand. In addition, the Buyer/Planner shall create and manage jobs for production through the ERP system while looking at demand, verifying workflow, securing material, and scheduling completion dates to ensure timely delivery to customers. Create and manage monthly forecast with high-accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate MRP requirements and coordinate with planning to schedule PO’s to meet customer expectation as best as possible.
  • Interpret input from ERP systems and generate PO’s.
  • Ensure PO Req’s are processed in a timely manner and notify originator if any issues.
  • Process PO confirmations and approved changes as provided by vendor. Ensure changes are entered into system. Collaborate with Planning and Program Management of any schedule discrepancies that may affect customer deliveries.
  • Review and process MRP pull ins and push outs requirements daily.
  • Efficiently monitor and update open PO with status updates (i.e., tracking information, date changes, and any other issues pertaining to the PO).
  • Proactively take appropriate action to avoid shortages, out of stock material, back orders and mitigate material lead-time increases.
  • Evaluate obsolete materials and inform Program Management of the supplier suggestive alternates.
  • Request estimates where appropriate and negotiate cost based on current standard cost.
  • Make recommendations on forecast programs, utilizing existing trends to effectively plan purchase releases while being cost efficient.
  • Advise Program Manager of any significant cost increases (over 5% or $50 excess beyond MRP requirements per item/schedule).
  • Monitor vendor performance per ISC quality requirements, and issue SCAR to suppliers whose performance has fallen below quality targets.
  • Validate all non-conforming materials are properly dispositioned per ISC quality requirements/process.
  • Explore new suppliers that may improve the company’s performance or lower costs.
  • Forecast monthly sales based on schedules, materials, and capacity with 95% accuracy
  • Engage with the sales and production teams to orders pushouts and pull-ins
  • Delegate and review assignments to the production control team
  • Follow through on deadlines and expected ship dates from vendors to ensure timely completion
  • Collaborates with the operation’s teams to answer questions
  • Proactively communicate shipping and material arrival delays
  • Attach engineering drawings and bill of materials for parts and assemblies
  • Work with the warehouse team to verify raw material to plan jobs accordingly
  • Review labor and material allocation for completed jobs before moving the assemblies to FG
  • Work within the planning team to shift work orders and manufacturing schedules in order to meet to production needs
  • Monitor corresponding KPI’s to comply with company goals and objectives.
  • Additional duties may be assigned if required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

  • 2-4 years purchasing experience with focus in electronics (Preferred)
  • 2-4 years scheduling/planning (Preferred)
