Who We Are
Continental Maritime of San Diego, a Titan company, is a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor for the U.S. Navy. Our skilled professionals have performed hundreds of ship repairs for the Navy and Military Sealift Command. CMSD does repair on all types of major surface vessels including CVN, CG, and DDG, and all types of amphibious ships including LHD, LHA, LSD, LPD, and auxiliary ships. Our work also includes repairs and alterations to a wide range of Combatant, Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Habitability Systems.
Position Specifics
Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Buyer to support our operations. The Buyer position reports to the Subcontract Manager and is responsible for researching and procuring materials, services, and equipment for ship repair, conversion, and auxiliary support areas. This position locates, develops, and utilized supplies to support ordering department. The Buy assists the Estimating Department by compiling estimates for bids and other related projects.
Minimum Requirements
- Aptitude to understand material requirements. Familiarity with Military Specifications, Military Standards, Federal Specifications, and ASTMs is a plus.
- Must be familiar with good purchasing practices.
- Ability to problem solve with flexible and supportive attitude.
- Able to self-prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to handle stress and work under pressure effectively.
- Must demonstrate high-level of integrity to ensure fairness of price, quality and suitability of materials and services.
- Must have excellent computer skills.
- Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- US Citizenship is required
- The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required
Physical Requirements
- Normally assigned to perform work in an office environment. Only electrical hazards and other minor potential hazards normally found in an office environment are anticipated.
- May be required to travel to job sites or other offices. May be exposed to paint fumes, welding, and other shipboard of shore based hazards.
- Ability to move up to 10 pounds on a regular basis.
