The mission of the juvenile justice Section in the Department of Public Safety, Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice is to reduce and prevent juvenile delinquency by effectively operating an integrated, comprehensive juvenile justice system that intervenes through education and treatment of youth in order to promote youth accountability, strengthen families and increase public safety.
The youth development centers are an integral part of the juvenile justice continuum that serves adjudicated youth in a safe and secure environment. The youth development centers provide a variety of services and programs that are tailored to meet the needs of each youth and to engage youth in positive youth development through a strength-based approach.
The primary purpose of the Business Officer position is to administer and manage the business and financial affairs of a youth development center. Position facilitates and manages financial resources that may be state appropriated, contract and grant, and / or receipt generated. Position performs financial and business-related duties associated with such areas as accounting, budgeting, auditing, and / or grants administration.
Position functions may include but are not limited to financial management, personnel administration / management, payroll, purchasing, inventory control, facilities coordination / planning information technology assessment / planning and closely related work.
The position will have direct supervision over Administrative Staff and the Food Service Manager. The position has full responsibility for the development, counsel, discipline, and evaluation performance of direct report employees.

Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is GN17. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Documented experience independently managing a variety of business functions with dynamic funding sources and / or a variety of function activities, programs and/or services.
- Documented experience conducting financial management responsibilities in an organization primarily funded by a variety of dynamic and multi-dimensional funding sources (e.g. multiple contact and grants, receipts).
- Thorough knowledge of the applicable accounting and budgeting practices and ability to contribute to budget development and / or capital expense proposals.
- Experience frequently serving as an internal resource on financial matters.
- Experience functioning in a full supervisory role for direct reports.
- Experience analyzing situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
- Experience expressing ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Experience evaluating policies, procedures and standards.
- Experience self-directing and organizing multiple tasks and priorities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance or other discipline related to the area of assignment from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive related experience, two years of which should be in a supervisory role,
OR
an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Pay: $55,518.00 - $97,157.00 per year
