Overview:
The primary focus of this job will be to provide quality service to the Farm Bureau agency force by supporting Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Agency, LLC in the area of maintaining computer based accounting systems along with recording and analyzing financial transactions, bookkeeping processes, keying monthly and annual accounting entries, processing vendor payments and commissions, and performing timely and accurate preparation of reports.
Responsibilities:

Keys monthly and annual accounting entries.

Daily processing of vendor and commission payments.

Process commission statements in a timely fashion.

Work with Accounting to validate and deposit check payments and resolve any issues regarding Direct Billed and Agency Billed commissions.

Advises leadership on the need for write-offs, commission deductions, etc.

Holds difficult conversations with agents on the need for commission deductions, accounting explanations, etc.

Answer billing and commission inquiries and document communication.

Run the unbilled policies report every other month to check for outstanding items.

Update policy information on the system.

Invoice policy renewals and endorsements and request refunds to be issued.

Understands insurance contracts, their impact and oversees the accounting associated with changes in the contracts.

Requests payoffs and unearned commission to be sent to the finance company from accounting

Prepare monthly reconciliations of all general ledger accounts.

Provide external auditors with requested information answer questions.

Cross train with positions and back up other accounting related positions within KFB Agency.

Assist in the monthly/quarterly/yearly analysis of the results, including the identification and investigation of fluctuations and variances.
Assist with the implementation of new procedures/projects and improvements due to business change and operational requirements.
Train and review the work of others, auditing for compliance of best practices and reporting findings to leadership.
Analyze and solve problems.

Act as a professional representative of the brokerage and Kentucky Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company by exhibiting our Guiding Principles.

Contribute to overall Agency growth, profitability, and department morale.

Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule workflow to meet any required time frames.
Audits of financial transactions.
Write procedures and control documentation on functions as needed.
Check procedures and controls periodically.

Timely production of monthly reports.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred, or a combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by a college graduate.

Associate in Accounting and Finance (AIAF) designation preferred.

Associate in Insurance (AINS) designation required or commitment to obtain within two years.

Minimum of two to four years’ experience in analyzing financial statements.

Active Kentucky Agent’s property and casualty license required, or must be successfully obtained within 90 days of employment. License must be maintained in good standing while in this position.

Experience with AMS 360 (or a similar agency management system) required.

Must be a self-starter and possess strong interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.

Good oral and written communication skills. Effective problem solver with sense of urgency.
Mastery of basic math and accounting principles.
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and database software.

Ability to work well with others, both inside and outside the organization.

Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Demonstrate leadership and a supportive attitude toward organizational goals.
