Bookkeeper
Job description
Virginia Bankers Association has an opening for a Bookkeeper at our Innsbrook location. This position will be primarily responsible for processing and recording payrolls; maintaining fixed asset records; and preparing daily deposits, monthly bank reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare semi-monthly payroll for four title agencies.
- Reconcile monthly cash remittances with the title agency software.
- Prepare daily deposits received in the VBA offices and post in ancillary systems.
- Prepare monthly financial statements for management entities.
- Maintain fixed asset system records for all eight entities and calculate monthly depreciation through the system.
- Calculate quarterly dividends to members.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns, personal property tax reports, and unclaimed property reporting.
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Dynamics software.
- Solid understanding of bookkeeping, payroll, accounting payable/receivable principles, and knowledge of financial statement preparation.
- High degree of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Superior organization skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Education and Experience:
- Experience with processing payroll required. Experience with Paycom is a plus.
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred; or two to five years of payroll and bookkeeping experience and or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
