POSITION TITLE: Birthday Party Manager REPORTS TO: Public Programs Coordinator EXEMPT OR NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt POSITION TYPE: Part-time

SCHEDULE: Expected hours* Sat 9:30am-12pm 1pm-4:30pm & Sun 12:30pm-4:30pm (September-May), Friday 2:30pm-4pm (vary based on number of parties), Sat 9:30am-12pm 1pm-4:30pm, & Sun 12:30pm-4:30pm(June-August)
POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Birthday Party Manager assists and supports presenters the day of the birthday party. The Birthday Party Manager supports weekend Visitor Services needs on an as needed basis.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Let party presenters into the buildings
• Presents parties in an emergency situation.
• Assist with gathering of animals
• Immediate contact with any issues concerning building operations, health, hygiene, andsafety.
• Provide support with the check-in process
• Assist with trash and clean-up process
• Pick up cakes for Deluxe parties
• Dewars refilled at James Oxygen (only on Saturdays in emergency situations)
• Buy milk and 1⁄2 1⁄2 (emergency situations)
• Notify supervisor when any supplies/consumables need to be ordered or repaired.
• Offer suggestions and feedback to Public Programs Coordinator in order to improveparties (e.g. new themes, activities, gift bags, etc.)
• Work with other CSC staff to ensure quality experiences for party clients, utilizing goodteaching methods, and public relations skills.
• Represent CSC in a positive and professional manner when present.
• Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Lift 40 lbs to waist level;
• Lift up to 20 lbs to shoulders and above head;
• Walk/stand for long periods of time;
• Squat, bend, kneel, twist, and reach;
• Reach above the shoulders.COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working with children;
• Ability to speak and read basic English;
• Attention to detail;
• Ability to multi-task;
• Commitment to and passion for the mission, vision, and values of Catawba ScienceCenter.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma, with some college experience preferred Salary:
• Position starts at $11 to 12 hour

NOTE: All applicants must participate in a drug test and criminal background check as part ofthe pre-employment process for the Catawba Science Center.
