Locally focused, yet part of a global media company, the seven-days-a-week Republican is the most widely circulated newspaper in Western Massachusetts with a weekly reach of over 175,000 readers. Our website, MassLive.com, is the second largest website in New England, with over 8.5 million monthly visitors. Our weekly publication, El Pueblo Latino, is the Spanish-language newspaper of record in a city that is 45% Latinx.

The Republican is seeking a new member of its news content team whose duties will include coverage of the Western Massachusetts Latinx community, along with oversight and content development for El Pueblo Latino. Ideal applicant for the Bilingual Reporter/Editor position should have demonstrated writing and editing skills in both Spanish and English, ability to lead and work with freelance and student journalists. Experience with community engagement is a plus. This is an incredible opportunity for the right person to further elevate the voices of the Latinx community in the greater Springfield area. We are looking for someone who has the relevant experience in journalism but is equally passionate about the issues concerning the Latinx community of greater Springfield.

For this position, you should have:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
• Passion for news and information
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in newsroom or related environment
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Strong team collaboration experience
• Assertive, goal-oriented and self-motivated
• Ability to handle multiple projects and work under deadlines with outstanding organization skills
• Spanish-language skills required

Pay: $33,150.00 - $48,750.00 per year
