Summary/Objective
The focus of the Senior Maintenance & Reliability Engineer will be to develop and implement reliability programs across the facility. This role will work collaboratively with the Director, Corporate Asset Reliability and key plant representatives to develop a reliability program to include preventative maintenance plans (PMs) as well as specification and application of predictive technologies (PdM) on mechanical and rotating equipment. The Senior Maintenance & Reliability Engineer will define, develop and implement programs that will improve reliability and productivity across the facility.
Essential Functions
- Improve equipment reliability by applying reliability engineering principles to train site personnel and assist with development and implementation of reliability strategies for equipment and processes
- Understand failure modes and risks and prepare reliability plans for critical equipment including but not limited to:
- Preventive Maintenance
- Predictive Maintenance
- Operator Monitoring
- Critical Repair Activities
- Spare Parts bills of materials and quality assurance
- Assist sites with application and development of Asset Management Programs for mechanical
integrity and reliability to include:
- Developing policies and procedures governing equipment/facility operation, inspection, and maintenance
- Incorporate anticipatory processes and strategies that:
- Eliminate or reduce equipment down time
- Combines newer processes and techniques/technologies to existing equipment and platforms
- Projects future equipment and machinery needs
- Gather and examine basic reliability data from field studies or data base and correlates the data
- Analyze the effects of PM/PdM efforts on equipment reliability and maintenance costs to:
- Evaluate results as a basis for equipment design decisions
- Use well defined engineering techniques/principles/procedures to interpret data analysis needed to drive continuous improvement
- Lead root cause analysis of reliability problems and investigate to determine the reliability required for the situation while considering:
- Cost limitations for equipment up/down time
- Repair/replacement costs
- Availability of equipment & materials including notation of weight, size, etc.
- Investigate equipment problems and design modifications to improve reliability, productivity, and safety using failure analysis to determine root cause and correct action
- Facilitate repairs of stationary and rotating equipment by working with original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket supplies as well as Tokai maintenance personnel, outside repair shops, and contractors
- Facilitate with plant management to plan, schedule, conduct, and/or coordinate detailed phases of work for a project and plant turnaround including the consideration of the following non-inclusive list:
- Total project scope to safely meet objectives and timeline
- Specific regional activities coordination
- Assist with development training and execution of reliability programs including precision maintenance, bolted joint flange integrity, TPM programs, condition-based maintenance programs with the management operating systems and tools
- Provide reliability expertise during design and implementation of new assets
- Provide technical support to maintenance personnel on equipment repairs, troubleshooting problems and equipment reliability issues
- Strives for excellence in the fields of sustainability and Safety, Health, and preservation of the Environment and promoting positive culture surrounding these tenets
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of related experience in a plant or manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge of chemical manufacturing process equipment, troubleshooting, process control, and process improvement
- Progressive experience with analytical problem-solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, failure mode analysis), reliability analysis tools, capital project management, contractor management
- Strong wide-ranging technical skills in mechanical, instrumentation, utility, and electrical systems
- Demonstrated compliance knowledge with all mechanical codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices (ASME, API, ANSI, OSHA, RC14001)
- Ability to effectively engage in verbal and written communications that are timely, concise, clear, and relevant while delivering with empathy with a broad range of stakeholders
- Skilled ability to navigate Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as computerized maintenance systems
- Possesses senior level skills in generating data, conducting analysis, and organizing/interpreting data to establish and support equipment
- Must strictly follow and comply with all SH&E procedures, standards and regulations
- Possess solid familiarity of topics such as Process Safety Management (PSM), safe work permitting, lockout/tagout, emergency response, and hazard recognition
Preferred Education and Experience
- Formal training and use of RCFA, RCA, RCM, IR, Oil analysis, Laser Alignment and other Precision Maintenance Techniques and Technologies
- Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional
- Vibration Analysis ISO Level II/III

Pay: $114,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
