Position Summary:
The Benefits Technology Strategy Manager is a leader within the Retail and Benefits Technology team. The Retail & Benefits Technology team sits within the Product and Market Management organization which is a department within our Group Benefits Business. Product and Market Management is responsible for enhancing existing and introducing new insurance and well-being products and services, inclusive of enrollment and retail offerings, while working cross functionally to define go-to-market strategies that ensure we capitalize on in-market growth opportunities. The Retail and Benefits Technology team is responsible for partnering closely with internal stakeholders and third-party technology firms to design and deploy innovative products and capabilities that simplify the customer experience, enhance the well-being of Guardian members, and diversify Guardian distribution. The team will allow Guardian to leverage new and innovative technologies, both internally developed and through partnerships, to deliver a compelling value proposition in the market that will result in market leading growth.
The Benefits Technology Strategy Manager will own Group Benefits’ benefits technology strategy which includes, but is not limited to benefits administration, human capital management, payroll, rating/quoting, and claims accuracy partnerships. The Benefits Technology Strategy Manager will oversee the work of the Benefits Technology Business Development Manager who is responsible for ongoing partner management, partner strategy & stewardship. The team will be responsible for determining where new partnership efforts be focused across the value chain and evaluating the landscape to identify potential partner targets. They will partner with the enablement team & other key stakeholders to develop go-to-market strategies, marketing and communication plans, and training for both new and existing partners.
Position Goals and Responsibilities:
The Benefits Technology Strategy Manager will be responsible for the following:
  • Developing a robust multi-year benefits technology strategy that considers the full value chain and provides a list of target companies for focused business development efforts
  • Partnering across the business to establish & implement clear priorities, goals and objectives for our benefits technology roadmap
  • Identifying opportunities for growth or optimization with existing digital partners & partnering with strategic partner leads to implement plans
  • Operationalizing new high-quality benefits technology partnerships and defining clear go-to-market strategies inclusive of partnership uses cases, marketing and communication plans, and field training
  • Working closely with key stakeholders in Technology & Distribution & Portfolio Management to build business case and funding recommendation for continued investment in technology capabilities
  • Developing & maintaining an exceptional understanding of marketplace trends & partnership offerings in the benefits technology space
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Ability to think critically & lay out a clear multi-year strategic recommendation
  • Proven success in designing and implementing innovative strategies to enhance the customer experience in a digital consumer- centric ecosystem;
  • Ability to lead while adapting to changing business priorities and environments
  • Strong executive presence and public speaking skills including presentation to senior leadership, as well as field stakeholders
  • Ability to direct multiple key partner functions in a matrixed environment
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen with business experience in a functional area
  • Compelling presentation skills e.g. comfortable speaking at large group conferences and webinars
  • Consistent track record of exceptional performance, having delivered quantifiable impact on company revenue;
  • A minimum of 5+ years in Group Benefits or other related financial services industries
  • 5+ years’ experience in roles with management, strategy, influence, and critical thinking responsibilities

Salary Range
$119,290.00 - $265,850.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
