Automotive Maintenance Instructor/Coordinator

Job Summary

The Instructor/Coordinator shall provide training to Government personnel in support of the RD Logistical Support Training Center (LSTC) and the Logistical Support Training Program (LSTP). All training must meet Army, Federal, or industry standards, whichever is most stringent. Training shall be presented professionally and to the highest standard - effective, expeditious, courteous, and focused on issue resolution. The Instructor/Coordinator will conduct a variety of training on testing and repair of Automotive, Engineer, Power Generation, Supply and Special Purpose Material maintenance requirements.

Job tasks also include maintaining student files to include licensing information and test results for the LSTC. Additionally, the Automotive Maintenance Instructor will assist training facilities and units with scheduling and facilitate flow of FTM/ civilian personnel to the activities, assist unit training meetings and participate in coordination meetings as required. Instructor/Coordinators will build, input, modify and update courses on the Digital Training Management System DTMS/LSTP Tracker.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed inside and occasionally outside with exposure to some inclement weather such as wind, snow, and rain. Frequently stands on hard surfaces for extended periods. The nature of maintenance training and repair work may include: exposure to vehicle exhaust fumes, fluids, dirt, grease, and oils. It may also result in burns, cuts, scrapes, bruising, and skin irritation. The utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment is required during all periods of exposure to hazardous materials and conditions.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience of teaching and instructing on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to heavy military equipment; and the skill needed to repair, replace, install parts, or make adjustments. Must understand the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships.
  • Must have the ability to analyze test results to locate malfunctioning parts for repair or replacement. Must be able to read and interpret parts lists, technical and manufacturers manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • US Citizen.
  • Possess or be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance applicable to the position and/or military Common Access Card (CAC) within 30 days if required.
