Aufgaben
Advanced Engineering (AE) drives core innovation at Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) to improve efficiency and enhance safety of medium and heavy-duty trucks through the development of advanced vehicle systems.
From theoretical concepts to fully functioning prototypes, the successful candidate will be part of a team of motivated engineers with emphasis on teamwork, integrity, ingenuity and excellence. You will work on exciting AE projects that push DTNA forward as a technology leader in our field and demonstrate the efficiency of vehicle systems with a clear path to production and bettering the world.
The successful candidate will contribute to SuperTruck 3 (ST3), an R&D program to design, build and test a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Truck capable of achieving ambitious efficiency and range targets under heavy-duty on-highway truck operations.

Responsibilities:
- As an Advanced Engineering team member, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development and validation of advanced energy efficient technologies in the proof-of-concept phase
- Development of concepts and designs for control systems and low voltage systems for class 8 commercial vehicles
- Support development of high voltage power systems including integration of battery pack, to electric motors, inverters and high voltage accessories
- Provide creative and technically feasible solutions for new proposed technologies in the advanced engineering phase, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Use software development methodologies and control system best practices to define the feature description, test and functional specification
- Document and transfer know-how to New Product Development groups in Series Engineering
- Contribute to a healthy, productive working environment and foster a culture of teamwork and learning.
- Take initiative to technically grow in your area of expertise, and broaden expertise across energy efficiency topics
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other relevant technical field from an accredited university/college required. Master’s Degree or PhD encouraged.
- Mechatronics or controls systems degree focus or previous experience in field required
- Know-how and experience with automotive high voltage systems in general preferred
- Simulation & modeling tools know-how (Matlab toolchain or equivalent) preferred
- Ability to thrive in a team-oriented work environment required
- Excellent engineering analysis and analytical ability required
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and/or programming languages required
- Strong communication and excellent presentation skills required

- Typically requires a Bachelors Degree
- Typically requires 0-2 years of relevant experience or 6 years experience in lieu of degree

- @hybrid: Number of days at home and at the office will be determined through an ongoing conversation with your Manager. DTNA will ensure that your WFH set-up meets wi-fi / data minimum requirements and sets you up for success. Travel to the office is not reimbursed and employee must live close enough to attend regular in-person collaborative meeting with at least 24-hour notice.
