About the Department

The Cardiometabolic Marketing Team leads the US marketing efforts for Novo Nordisk’s robust cardiometabolic product portfolio, which includes world class therapies for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other serious chronic diseases. As part of the team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our portfolio vision, business strategies, and tactical plans that drive our business forward. You will help to drive the NNI portfolio and Brand strategies to ensure the products reach the people who need them most.


The Position


The primary responsibility of this position is to support Cardiometabolic consumer market development and commercial marketing within the Marketing Department. This position is accountable for leading the development and implementation of marketing plans for the NASH therapeutic area which may include marketing activities (positioning, messaging, creative etc.), planning, execution of strategy, and delivery of key projects with external partners. Responsible for project management, defining shared value, and leveraging insights to drive decision making with a broad number of internal and external stakeholders. Participates on cross-functional and global teams to foster collaboration and interacts extensively with other functions within Novo Nordisk.


Relationships


Reports to a Lead/Senior Director in Marketing. Works closely with many cross-functional stakeholders including: Consumer Marketing, HCP Marketing, Communications, Public Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Operations and Finance. Works in collaboration with other departments such as Medical, Regulatory, Compliance, Insight & Analytics and Legal personnel as well as participating on global teams where applicable. External relationships include relations with potential and existing partners, professional services vendors such as agencies, consultants, etc.


Essential Functions


BRAND LAUNCH PLANNING:


  • Develops and executes the pre-launch and launch strategic and tactical brand plans in collaboration with Sr Brand Director and cross functional launch team.
  • Oversees the development of personal and non-personal patient promotional materials; ensures alignment of brand positioning, messaging and overall objectives.
  • Identifies and implements improvements to prepare for launch, development and/or life cycle activities.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of pre-launch plans, and post launch business plans/strategies. This includes in-depth market analysis, market research activities, and patient marketing.
  • Develops compelling consumer campaign and messages.
  • Develops and presents brand launch plans for management endorsement
  • Ensures alignment with POA Working Teams for key customer segments.
  • Proactively communicates and collaborates with Centers of Excellence (COEs) and others to ensure transparent communications and alignment of strategies and tactics within and outside the department.
  • Works closely with field sales to ensure marketing programs that are developed strongly support their direct and indirect needs with consumer resources and drive appropriate ROI.
  • Works closely with international marketing and medical team members in identifying effective marketing strategies for designated product for the US marketing.
  • Works closely with the marketing commercialization team to report on key metrics identified for the launch plan both locally and globally.
  • Effectively understands competitive landscape through the course of the year to ensure campaign success
  • Accountable for key metrics, tracking and timelines/deliverables


BRAND PROMOTIONS:


  • Develops and implements marketing plan. Leads the effective integration of various marketing tactics including but not limited to patient conventions, patient marketing campaigns, relationship marketing and consumer advocacy development initiatives.
  • Develops, manages and disseminates the implementation of promotional programs, including coordination with external suppliers and agencies.
  • Effectively addresses competitive obstacles for the brand through the course of the year to ensure brand success


FISCAL:


  • Accountable to the portfolio budget process
  • Ensures projects costs stays within the budget by regularly tracking and reconciling expenses
  • Evaluates project impact vs investment ROI
  • Manage contracting and scope of work for projects and with vendors
  • Develops and monitors performance against budget
  • Ensures budgets remain on track
  • Establishes, oversees implementation and monitors adherence to administrative policies and procedures


MARKET SHAPING & ADVOCACY DEVELOPMENT:


  • Oversees creation of strategic plans for consumer advocacy and awareness development with external organizations and entities.
  • Provides leadership oversight in defining market shaping initiatives and execution
  • Lead execution of partnerships opportunities and determine shared value for achieving NNI ambition


Physical Requirements

20-30% overnight travel required.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelors degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum seven (7) years of brand management/marketing experience required of which two (2) years were in a Sr. Brand Manager role or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of consumer marketing experience preferred
  • Brand launch experience required
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills with high attention to quality of detail
  • Proven track record of effective strategic planning, execution, and delivery of results
  • Solid understanding of the pharmaceutical marketplace, especially in therapeutic areas that were non-existent or underdeveloped
  • Strong ability to work on cross functional teams
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing market development/marketing plans.
  • Successful product launch experience in a marketing role
  • Proven success in developing strategy through expert understanding of market and industry
  • Ability to manage complexity
