We have won groundbreaking cases before national courts, U.N. Committees, and regional human rights bodies. Additionally, the Center has led the development of historic, proactive legislation advancing robust protections for reproductive rights and has built the legal capacity of women's rights advocates in more than 65 countries and counting.
The Role: The Associate, Board Relations, will support and report directly to the Director, Board Relations, in the Office of the President and help to ensure the smooth operations of a 25-member Board of Directors. Responsibilities include project management of Board meetings and events, travel arrangements, materials preparation, general calendar management, and follow-up.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support the Management of Board Operations (80%)
- Manage logistics, and follow-up for Board and Board Committee meetings including: advance scheduling and venue/dinner location selection for three Board meetings per year (one outside of New York); technological support for video conferencing, attendance tracking, and compliance with bylaws including minutes approval and archiving; and email drafting of meeting notices and materials dissemination (25%);
- Support Governance operations including Board recruitment process (prospect tracking and report generation in Raiser's Edge, priority grid management), research and drafting of briefing memos, committee work planning and calendar management (25%);
- Support the timely planning and development of materials for Board and Board Committee meetings, including development and dissemination of Board books and minutes preparation (20%).
- Oversee and manage Board internet site, including design, maintenance, updates, and usage by Board members to access up-to-date information (10%);
General Operations Support in the Office of the President (20%)
- Provide administrative support to the Office of the President, primarily supporting the Chief of Staff, with additional support to the President and CEO and Executive Assistant as necessary. General tasks will include: calendar management for Chief of Staff, assistance with meeting preparation, assisting with research in preparing background materials for meetings and events;
- Assist with preparation of the department's annual budget and monitor expenses in the area of Board relations in consultation with the Finance Department and OOP staff as appropriate, including processing expense forms and invoices specifically related to the Chief of Staff and Board expenses;
- Serve as a positive outward-facing member of the Office of the President, who works well with other Associates and Executives throughout the organization; and
- Other tasks and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to the Center's mission, purpose, and values;
- 2+ years of progressively responsible office experience preferred; prior support of a senior official or executive preferred;
- B.A. degree required;
- Ability to organize and drive projects to timely completion;
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills with steadfast attention to detail;
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality with sensitive information;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
- Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor when working within strict deadlines and regularly shifting priorities;
- Positive, "can-do, will do" attitude, self-confidence, self-awareness, and sense of humor required; and
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs as well as technological savvy

Compensation: This position is paid $28.57 an hour, 35 hours a week, for an estimated annual salary of $52,000 a year.. This salary is reflective of a position based in New York City. This salary will be subject to a locality adjustment, if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting. Note that most of the salaries listed on our job postings reflect New York, NY salaries, where our National offices are headquartered.
